We are seeing a significant increase in accidental carbon monoxide poisoning calls all over due to families trying to keep warm.

Never use a gas range or oven to heat your home. Never use a generator indoors to heat your home. Always pull your vehicle out of the garage after starting it.

Please do these things to keep your family and pets safe .

Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that can be deadly. Never use your stove to warm you home and never start your car in a closed garage. We know you want to do everything you can to keep yourself and your family warm, but please do it safely and use appropriate heating devices.

Protect yourself and your family from CO poisoning. Stay warm and be safe! Practice heating safety. #HouWx #COprevention #uri

Be prepared for this front and the rain coming through with it.

RAINFALL PROJECTION UPDATE:
The cold front is ahead of schedule, making it more likely that the front will stall out over parts of Houston and Harris County tonight. This increases the threat for street flooding tonight and Thursday morning.

While most can expect 1-3", we believe 4-8" of rain will fall in a large swath near where the front stalls. As storms train throughout the night, this will push creek and bayou water levels to the top of their banks wherever this occurs. Most guidance indicates this is more likely to occur over the western half of Harris County with extensions into much of Fort Bend and Montgomery Counties.

We will carefully monitor the radar for you throughout the night, and I'll post more updates as new data comes in.

You can also tune into our digital stream at abc13.com/forecast. We'll provide updates in between newscasts as needed.

If you're planning to fry your turkey on #Thanksgiving, take a moment to look at these #safetytips.

News Release: The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office partnered with @HCPrecinct4, @HEB, and @HEBTomballTX to encourage turkey frying safety.

"HCFMO encourages everyone to keep an eye on what you fry," said Harris County Fire Marshal Laurie L. Christensen. "Frying a turkey might be a family tradition, but it can be very dangerous. One misstep can cause a dangerous fire to occur."

11/23/2020

Due to the safety precautions taken by our department this year, our influence on little kids (and big kids too), hasn’t had the same impact as letting them on the truck at station PR’s and in random meet-ups on scene or while making a dinner run. But kids are always watching, and the lure of the truck and the job (even when it’s volunteers) never takes a break.

These great parents shared a moment with their kids by being in the right place at the right time, seeing something you don’t get to see everyday. I’m glad that our department and the crew of E36 got to bring some joy today for our community.

Thanks FF Dan Erickson for sharing.

On July 1st I received a call from my son that his uncle was not feeling well and I needed to head to where they were. My brother-in-law Tom wasn't doing to good and needed to get to the hospital. After taking him to the hospital and receiving the news that Tom was having a heart attack, we were all in shock. I will never forget seeing all of his fellow fighter fires show up one by one and being there to support my sister and niece. The camaraderie of the dept was such an emotional display. To see all of his brothers and sister be there not only for him but for all us was truly amazing. Thank you for all the well wishes and food that you all provided, not only to my sister and niece but to all of my kids as well. They say pictures can say a thousand words. This is one photo I will cherish forever.
