With the support of KCDC staff who gave what they could, we were able to give out more than 700 pairs of socks during Saturday’s Shoes for School! We’re so grateful to be part of such an incredible event held each year by Knoxville Area Urban League. What an awesome day for our community!

With the help of City of Knoxville - Government, Knox County Government, KABOOM!, and so many others in our community, we came together one week ago to build a children-designed, community-built playground in Montgomery Village!

From a patch of grass to a playground in three days. That happened this week in Montgomery Village as community partners collaborated with national nonprofit KABOOM! to plan, fund and build a playground to specs identified by neighborhood kids and families. Slide? Check. Places to sit? Check. Workout station? Check. It was hot and sweaty work, but the results -- community pride and a safe place to play -- are priceless.

Eight weeks. Countless smiles. Endless memories.

Thanks to the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club's (AMBC) Trail Blazers program, kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley in North Ridge Crossing got to ride mountain bikes, have some fun, and explore a trail nearby during their summer break!

As the program wraps up next week, we're grateful to AMBC for inspiring the next generation of trail users — one ride at a time!

Searching for a volunteer opportunity in the community? Come help us build a playground in Montgomery Village!

We’re partnering with City of Knoxville - Government, Knox County Government, and playspace nonprofit KABOOM! to build a new playground for children and families in Montgomery Village — and we’re looking for volunteers to help us make it happen.

Preparation work will take place July 27 and July 28, culminating in a six-hour “Build Day” blitz on July 29. Volunteers are needed each day, and business and individual donations are welcome to help provide coffee, meals and refreshments for volunteers.
