Chief Tony Jay Crisp is proud to recognize Officer Brandon Carter as our June 2026 Officer of the Month and Officer Kayla Howard as our July 2026 Officer of the Month!

Officer Brandon Carter has consistently demonstrated an outstanding work ethic, dedication, and commitment to proactive policing. During the first six months of 2026, Officer Carter responded to 710 calls as the primary officer, completed 62 reports, issued 138 citations, conducted 364 traffic stops, and made 48 arrests.

His proactive enforcement recently led to two significant drug arrests, removing more than 77 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 5 grams of ma*****na, nearly 3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales, a firearm, and U.S. currency from our streets. His vigilance and initiative are a reflection of his commitment to keeping the Maryville community safe.

Officer Kayla Howard is being recognized for her exceptional leadership and dedication in creating the Maryville Police Department’s Youth Police Academy from the ground up. Through countless hours of planning and coordination, Officer Howard developed a week-long program giving local youth ages 13–17 a firsthand look at law enforcement.

The academy provided hands-on experiences while emphasizing teamwork, leadership, and positive relationships between young people and law enforcement. Officer Howard also brought together local public safety agencies and community partners to make the program an engaging and meaningful experience for participants.

Both officers exemplify the professionalism, initiative, and commitment to community that represent the very best of the Maryville Police Department!

Please join us in congratulating Officer Brandon Carter and Officer Kayla Howard on these well-deserved recognitions!

On Friday, Chief Tony Jay Crisp and memebers of the Maryville Police Department celebrated the graduation of the first-ever Maryville Police Department Youth Police Academy!

Over the course of a week, these students, ages 13–17, experienced hands-on law enforcement activities, learned about behind-the-scenes police operations, developed leadership and teamwork skills, and built relationships with the officers who serve our community every day!

We are extremely proud of this inaugural class for their enthusiasm, respect, and willingness to step outside their comfort zones to learn more about law enforcement and public service.

A special thank you goes to Officer Kayla Howard for organizing and leading our first Youth Police Academy, as well as to all of the officers who took time throughout the week to share their knowledge and make this program a success!

Congratulations to each of our graduates! Thank you for making the first Maryville Police Department Youth Police Academy such a memorable experience. We look forward to building on this program and welcoming future classes in the years ahead!
