2025 Howard County Birch Bayh Dinner!!

Thank you to the for Howard County Democratic Party for inviting some of us to attend the dinner and hear from the fantastic lineup of speakers. Listening to Former Senator and Ambassador Joe Donnelly, former State Representative and current District 5 Party Chair Terri Austin, District 4 Party Chair Matt Meagher, Kokomo City Councilman Bob Stephenson for City Council District 2 and interacting with many others was such a pleasure.

It was a night filled with hope and belief during such a pivotal time in American politics, and to see such a turn out and listen to both speakers and attendees alike was really enlightening and filled us with hope that we can make real change in 2026! 💙💙

ICYMI…Secretary Noem announced yesterday that an 1,000 bed ICE detention facility is coming to Indiana. A spokesperson from Governor Braun’s office later confirmed that it is slated to be at Miami Correctional Facility, located just 15 miles from campus. Alligator Alcatraz is already collecting human rights violations with international orgs calling for it to be shut down—and now that same type of facility is coming here. Kokomo College Democrats stand firmly against firmly against this facility and any others like it.

While it might not feel right to be celebrating our nation’s independence after the passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill”, let us celebrate the victory of our founding fathers over tyranny and continue the fight against the tyranny now plaguing the very institutions they created. Our pledge of allegiance says “with liberty and justice for all”, and we’ve got a lot of work left to do in order to achieve that. Let’s get to it. 🇺🇸
