Come out for a day of family fun and learn a bit about the great outdoors! Polk Township is holding its annual Environmental Day on Sunday, October 4, 11 am-3 pm. This free event will feature food, music, and activities such as a petting zoo, face painting, cider pressing, a pumpkin patch, crafts and games. State and community organizations will be on hand with informational displays and demonstrations on topics such as hunting, fishing, fly tying, wildlife, recycling, farming, etc.

The family Environmental Day will be held rain or shine, at the Polk Township Walking Park at 121 Polk Township Rd. in Kresgeville. Volunteers are needed. If you are interested in helping on the day of the event or would like to participate as an organization, contact the township office at 610-681-5376.

📣 📣 📣UPDATE!! The Old Fashioned Picnic will now be held at the 🚨🚨Polk Township Volunteer Fire company at 511 Interchange Rd Kresgeville PA🚨🚨. The picnic will still be from 2-5. All the same fun and excitement, just with out the rain or the bugs!!! We are still looking for volunteers for baked goods for our cake walk!! We look forward to seeing you all there!! 🍪🍰🥮 The Memorial Dedication will be at 12:30 and will be held inside at Salem St Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville,PA 🎖️🪖

2026 Pick Up The Poconos event is scheduled on April 25, 2026 9:30am-12:30pm.

The Parks & Recreation Committee will be cleaning up the parks and there will be opportunities for road cleanups in the Township. The Township will have supplies to offer that were donated by Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.

Even though Pocono Township has our Spring and Fall Cleanup scheduled for 2026, we are beyond fortunate to partner with the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority to offer residents an additional opportunity for safe hazardous waste disposal.

The Waste Authority will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event for Monroe County residents on:

Saturday, July 25, 2026
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Military Road Recycling Site
1114 Military Road, Stroudsburg

This event provides a safe way to dispose of items such as automotive fluids, oil-based paints, household chemicals, lawn treatments, batteries, cleaners and many other hazardous materials that should not go in regular trash.

We appreciate the continued partnership with the Waste Authority and the opportunity to provide additional environmental resources for our residents.
