🏡 Before Property Tax Bills Arrive… Let’s Talk About Your TRIM Notice

If you recently opened your mailbox and found your 2026 TRIM Notice, you may be wondering: Is this my property tax bill?

The answer is no.

Your TRIM Notice is sent by the Property Appraiser and gives you an important preview of information that will ultimately help determine your property tax bill. It includes your property’s assessed value, exemptions, proposed millage rates from your taxing authorities, and an estimate of the taxes you may owe.

📬 Your actual property tax bill comes later.

The Hendry County Tax Collector’s Office receives the certified tax roll in the fall, and property tax bills are generally mailed around November 1. That is when payments begin being accepted by our office.

Why pay attention to your TRIM Notice now? Because now is the time to review it.

Take a few minutes to make sure your property information and exemptions appear correct, review the proposed tax rates, and look at the meeting information provided for the taxing authorities that establish those rates.

Each office has a different role in Florida's property tax process—and we're always happy to help point you in the right direction if you're unsure who to contact.

💚 An informed community is a stronger community, and we're here to help you understand the process every step of the way.

📬 2026 TRIM Notices Are in the Mail!

The Hendry County Property Appraiser has mailed the 2026 TRIM (Truth in Millage) Notices to property owners. When yours arrives, please take a few minutes to review it carefully — this is an important notice, but it is NOT a tax bill.

Your TRIM Notice provides valuable information about your property, including:

🏡 Your property’s assessed and taxable value
💰 Your exemptions, such as Homestead Exemption
📊 Proposed millage rates and estimated property taxes from each taxing authority
📅 Dates, times, and locations of public budget hearings
⚠️ Important deadlines and information for questioning or appealing your property value
🚫 It does not include your non-ad valorem taxes

Why is it important to review your TRIM Notice now?

The TRIM Notice is your opportunity to make sure the information used to calculate your property taxes is correct before tax bills are mailed in November. If you have questions about your property value, exemptions, or classifications, those concerns should be addressed with the Hendry County Property Appraiser’s Office during the TRIM period.

If you have questions about a proposed millage rate or budget, you should contact the taxing authority listed on your notice.
As your Hendry County Tax Collector, our office does not determine your property value, exemptions, or tax rates. Our responsibility begins after the tax roll is certified and tax bills are prepared for collection.

📬 Don’t toss that TRIM Notice aside! Review it, make sure you understand it, and pay close attention to any applicable deadlines. Being informed now can help prevent surprises when your property tax bill arrives later this year.

Today was a bittersweet day as we said goodbye to Kevin on his last day with our team. 💚

But he’s leaving us for a pretty great reason! On Monday, Kevin begins the next chapter of his journey as he starts his post-secondary education, full time, working toward becoming a CPA.

There may have been a few tears shed today. 🥹 Kevin has become such a special part of our team, and we are all going to miss having him here. At the same time, we couldn’t be more excited for him and what lies ahead.

Kevin, we wish you nothing but the very best as you begin this new adventure. Work hard, dream big, and know that we have no doubt you’re going to make us all very proud.

No matter where this next chapter takes you, you will always have a place on our team and in our Hendry County Tax Collector family. 💚

Good luck, Kevin! We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 🎓

Human trafficking can happen anywhere, and awareness is an important part of protecting our communities. We are proud of our entire team for taking this responsibility seriously and for their continued commitment to serving and looking out for the people of Hendry County.

Together, through awareness, education, and action, we can build a stronger and safer Florida. 💚
