We’ve all been concerned at the “broken irrigation” situation in the garden. Today, we were FINALLY able to amend, replace and hopefully corrected the mistake.

Thanks to Mr. Uhren’s class for helping empty out the raised beds after several rains, a farm in Ramona for donating amendment and the Parker family for donating marigolds and zinnias to replant. Together we can maintain the beauty of this space.

Sweet potato. Rotated at 350 degrees for 20 min with salt and pepper. We got lots of thumbs up and some thumbs down. eat the rainbow.

Ms. Fink’s class found the LARGEST SWEET POTATO any of us have ever seen along with a lot of smaller ones. Watch closely to see what becomes of it.

Students are feeding our red wiggles, one of the largest decomposers in our compost bin, to make humus (h-yoo-mes) which will then feed our plants.

Students used magnifying glasses to find the pollen located on the anthers and the stamen of different types of flowers.

Do you have a scientist? Ask them what a pollinator is. Please listen to why WE (humans) can also be considered pollinators.

Compost! Our 1st graders helped chop up some pumpkins to add to our compost this week. In a few months this pile will be ready to feed back into our garden. In the mean time…

Shout out to our compost delivery. This year we’re grateful for LivingEarth Soil from Ramona, CA who delivered 6 yards of beautiful compost to feed our veggie beds.

They don’t have a social media presence, but if they did, you’d see the life they bring to gardens all over our county.
