This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy today, and their courage will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage our community to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Our strike team has safely returned home following its assignment to the Sandy Fire in Ventura County.

The engine deployed with Captain Wilton, Engineer Nobbs, Firefighter Tietgen, and Firefighter Allen in support of suppression operations alongside engines from Pasadena, Burbank, Arcadia, Monterey Park, to assist Ventura County and crews from across the region.

The Sandy Fire ignited near Simi Valley on May 18 and rapidly expanded under strong wind conditions, prompting evacuations and threatening homes throughout Ventura County. Over the course of the assignment, firefighters worked to strengthen containment lines, protect structures, and support ongoing fire suppression efforts as conditions improved and portions of the incident transitioned toward recovery operations.

We’re proud of our crew for representing La Verne and California’s Master Mutual Aid System, and we’re grateful to have them home safely. 🔥🚒

Last week, LVFD had the privilege of celebrating our amazing Verne Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers at the City of La Verne’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and hosted by the incredible staff of .

These dedicated volunteers give so much of their time and heart to helping our community become more prepared, connected, and resilient during emergencies and disasters. Our CERT program simply would not be what it is without them.

We’d also like to give a special congratulations to Bernice Crocchi for receiving the LVFD Special Recognition Award. Bernice’s commitment, positivity, and continued support of the CERT program truly make a difference, and we are so grateful for all she does.

To all of our CERT volunteers — thank you. Your service matters, and our community is stronger because of you. ❤️🚒

LVFD and the Community Risk Reduction Division had the opportunity today to offer fire extinguisher training for the residents of Vintage Grove Senior Apartments. We appreciated the time discussing fire safety in the home, how to properly use a fire extinguisher, and most importantly to always make your safety a priority in any situation that could involve a home fire. Thank you to the staff at Vintage Grove for being gracious hosts!
