🚒5514 is IN SERVICE!🚒

On June 5, 2026, Engine-Rescue 5514 was placed in service at Station 1 in beautiful downtown Gray Summit. Moments after the photo was taken of the first assigned crew members, it responded first due to its first working fire, and it performed flawlessly.

5514 will replace its predecessor which has served our community well for nearly 3 decades.

We anticipate our 2nd new Engine-Rescue to arrive next week, where it will undergo the outfitting of hoses and equipment, with it being in service shortly thereafter protecting Labadie and the surrounding area.

On behalf of the officers and members of the department, we cannot thank you, our residents, for providing us this much needed upgrade in equipment reliability and safety to YOUR firefighters. These are YOUR trucks, so please feel free to stop in and check them out. 5514 will be in the Labadie parade tomorrow and will most certainly be at our 55th Anniversary Event in St. Albans next Saturday from 1pm-4pm.

We train for a lot of things. Negotiating with a cat wasn’t in today’s lesson plan.

Firefighters in Villa Ridge were contacted about their beloved cat 🐈 which had climbed a tree and could not come back down.

After some investigating and game planning, one firefighter stepped-up to go out on a limb to effect a rescue. Ascending past the reach of our 35’ extension ladder, our firefighter, in protective equipment, climbed several more feet to coax Marbles to him where he was handed off to the thankful owner.

This purrrr-fect ending is a testament to the caliber of members we have on our staff. Whether calls involve humans or pets, we will do whatever it takes to provide a positive outcome.

And just for the record, our firefighters are the cats meow.

💚Mental Health Awareness Month💚

June is , a time to recognize the importance of mental wellness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

Firefighters routinely respond to traumatic incidents, medical emergencies, serious injuries, and loss of life. While our members are trained to handle these situations professionally, the emotional effects can accumulate over time. Stress, sleep disruption, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress can impact firefighters at every stage of their careers.

Studies have shown that approximately 30% of firefighters and paramedics experience symptoms consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during their careers. In addition, national fire service organizations report that firefighters are more likely to die by su***de than in the line of duty, highlighting the importance of recognizing and addressing behavioral health concerns.

At the Boles Fire Protection District, we encourage our members to look after one another, speak openly about mental health, and seek help when needed. Just as we train to protect our community, we must also take care of ourselves and our fellow firefighters.

Mental health is health. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

📸Flashback Friday📸

As draws to a close, did you know that for several years, the Boles Fire Protection District has hosted Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes? Many graduates have gone on to long successful careers as EMT's, Paramedics, and Firefighters.

We are in the final planning stages of hosting another class slated in the not-too-distant future.

If you or someone you know would like to begin their pathway to helping others, monitor our social media and save www.bfpdmo.com into your browser, as that will be your platform to register for class.

Got questions? We’ve got answers. Feel free to message our page or stop by one of our engine houses to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of an EMT!

Just after 3am on May 18, 2026, Franklin Co Missouri 911/Communications began receiving multiple calls of a possible structure fire in the 2700 block of Highway 100.

The first arriving engine company found two sheds/workshops heavily involved in fire. Several handlines were stretched to suppress the main body of fire.

Crews were able to stop the fire from extending to a residence.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters and the fire is under investigation, though, it is not considered suspicious.

We were assisted by MetroWest FPD, Pacific Fire Protection District, Eureka Fire Protection District, Franklin County Sheriff's Office Missouri, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Meramec Ambulance District.

Thank you to Union Fire Protection District for covering our district while our crews operated at this incident.

We are thankful for the mommas who raised us, shaped us, and helped make us who we are today.

We are most grateful for the mothers and wives who keep things running at home while our firefighters answer the call day and night.

Your strength, support, and love are appreciated — not just today, but every day.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!
