Tammany Parish Library system is at the very foundation of this amazing community. Tammany Parish Library System was founded through a grass-roots effort undertaken in the late 1940s by civic, educational, and service organizations to enhance the community’s access to books and information and to improve quality of life. Tammany’s many towns, villages, and cities, offer over 542,000 loanable items
including books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines in addition to various programs and services. The library's website offers access to downloadable audio and e-books, music downloads, research tools, magazines, and newspapers 24/7. The Library is at the heart of literacy, learning, education, and community here and has been so since 1950. From the main Library branch located in Covington, Louisiana — the Parish Seat— a city with deeply-rooted families and a history of industry and commerce, to the most active branch location located in the metro-rural City of Slidell, each branch reflects the identity of the community in which they reside. Tammany Parish Library is here to provide St. Tammany residents with resources and programs that meet their cultural, informational, economic, educational, and recreational needs. We strive to promote lifelong learning and offer programs and services for all ages.
