The Early Childhood Council of Boulder County Championing Brighter Futures for All Council members contribute their time and support on a voluntary basis. ECCBC's work is outlined in its strategic plan.

The vision of young children as a priority in Boulder County was the common ground on which several community agencies came together to form the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County (ECCBC) in 1998. Funding available through the Colorado Consolidated Child Care Pilot Program allowed ECCBC to begin creating a structure and strategic direction for its work. Today its membership includes non-pro

fit organizations, government agencies, child care centers, family child care providers, and individuals interested in improving the system of child care and preschool education in our community. Members attend quarterly meetings to learn about current ECCBC activities and to share information about their agencies and programs. Committees are responsible for completing activities in the Council's annual work plan:

ECCBC continues as a member of the state partnership founded through the Colorado Consolidated Child Care Pilot Program. The program is coordinated by the Colorado Department of Education and provides over 30 Colorado communities with networking, technical assistance and resources to advance coordinated systems of services for young children. The partnership participates in the efforts of Early Childhood Colorado to create a comprehensive statewide system for children birth to eight and their families.

Child care is more than a family issue—it's essential infrastructure that supports children, families, employers, and our entire community.

This powerful story from Colorado Public Radio highlights what many families and providers experience every day: a child care system that is increasingly difficult to access, afford, and sustain. When families can't find reliable care, it affects workforce participation, economic stability, and children's early learning opportunities. Meanwhile, providers continue to face significant challenges in keeping their programs staffed and financially viable.

At ECCBC, we believe every family deserves access to high-quality, affordable child care and every early childhood professional deserves the support needed to do this critical work. Investing in child care is investing in Colorado's future.
