🚜🚧🪏 GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) has issued the Notice of Commencement for the widening of the N. Davis bypass between Lafayette Parkway and Hogansville Road.

These projects are controlled by the state, but will require some utility changes that will be handled by the city.

Please exercise patience as this project progresses if this is an area you routinely travel.

The City of LaGrange is inviting residents who are interested in becoming more involved in their community to apply to serve on one of the City’s boards or agencies.

Municipal boards and agencies play an important role in local government by bringing community members into the decision-making process and providing valuable knowledge and expertise on a variety of issues.

To make it easier for residents to get involved, District 2 City Councilmember Ameia Cotton Williams encouraged the City to launch a new online application process for individuals interested in serving. The City’s website, www.lagrangega.gov, now features a dedicated Boards and Agencies page with information about each entity, including its purpose and term limits. “Many people don’t know about the opportunities to serve on our boards and agencies,” said Councilperson Cotton Williams. “I wanted to create an opportunity for more residents to apply and bring new ideas and perspectives to our boards. Giving more people the opportunity to serve makes our boards stronger and our community better.”

Residents interested in serving can find a link to the online application (www.bit.ly/4zLqkDk) on the Boards and Agencies page. (www.bit.ly/4ivEfqG) Applications will be accepted even when there are no current vacancies, allowing the City to keep applications on file for future consideration.

Completing an application does not guarantee appointment. Applications will be reviewed when vacancies occur, with consideration given to an applicant’s interests, experience, knowledge, and qualifications as they relate to the board or agency.

“We want to make it easier for our residents to become involved in their local government,” said Mayor Jim Arrington. “Serving on a board or agency is a great way to share your experience, give back to the community, and help shape the future of LaGrange. We encourage all residents to apply.”
