Governor Ron DeSantis announced a new pilot program during a visit to Fruitland Park Elementary that brings Hope Florida liaisons directly into public schools.

The initiative will train designated school staff members to serve as on-site Hope Florida liaisons, acting as the primary connection point between students, families, and available support services.

“These liaisons will be trained in the Hope Florida navigation system,” DeSantis said, “and will distribute resources, offer referrals, and train others in the school on how to access help.”

Key responsibilities include:
• Serving as a direct contact for students, parents, and staff seeking support
• Distributing Hope Florida materials in schools
• Connecting families with Hope Navigators via a state helpline
• Building partnerships with local charities, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations

Orange County was the first to implement the pilot program. Lake County is now the second school district in Florida to offer it.

The program will focus especially on families of children with developmental disabilities, offering early intervention, special needs guidance, and home-life support.
