***Utility Past Due Balances Reminder***
If you are past due on your utility account AND have not called City Hall, or contacted us via email, PRIOR to 3:45 PM on August 25th to establish a payment arrangement, your water or electric services may be disconnected AUGUST 26, 2026.

Payments of past due balances MUST be received at City Hall by 7:45 AM on the day of disconnection (August 26th) in order to avoid the service disconnection. If you are making an online payment, the payment must be successfully completed by 7:45 AM on August 26th to avoid disconnection. Once service has been disconnected, the full past due amount, plus the $100 reconnection fee, is required to be paid to have service reconnected.

Lake Crystal is currently experiencing a power outage on East Humphrey St., East Prince St., East Blue Earth St. This outage is also affecting all the cross streets from North Main St. to East Humphrey. We don't currently have a time frame for when the power will be back on. Lake Crystal Electric Department is working diligently to restore power to these areas.

During the nighttime hours of the first week in August, the electric utility will be bringing in a contractor (Fast Forward) to perform drive by thermal imaging inspections to our powerline infrastructure. Fast forward will be using both handheld, and motor vehicle mounted thermal imaging cameras to accomplish this. Fast Forward will be driving our entire system with marked vehicles as seen in the picture by roadway with motor vehicle access. Frequent stops may occur during the inspection process to gather the best data. The inspection process is planned to be completed in two nights "weather dependent". *Notice: Utility Rate Increases*

Effective for all usage after August 1st, 2026 and reflected in your September billings. Approved by the PUC on July 7, 2026.

Electric rates will go up by 8%, Water increases by 5%, and Sewer will increase by 12%.

These increases are to support projects, like the new electric substation, that will increase the reliability of the utility services in Lake Crystal. The increases also help fund other infrastructure already in place and the necessary maintenance that need to happen to keep YOUR utility service in tip-top-shape.

This weekend is going to be HOT! Lake Crystal is in an extreme heat watch from 12:00 PM on Saturday through 9:00 PM Sunday!!

Are you prepared? Review the following tips to help keep you and your family cool and comfy when temperatures soar, while keeping your energy bill low:

-Take advantage of natural daylight. Shut off lights and open the curtains, especially in the morning and evening hours.

-OPEN your windows in the early morning hours or later evening hours to let in the cooler breezes and give your air conditioning a break!

-Set your ceiling fans to run counterclockwise in the summer to create a cooling breeze, but turn off when not in the room. This cools people and not the rooms.

-Get creative with meals and avoid using your oven or stove on hot days during the peak of high temps.

-Seal the gaps. Use weatherstripping or caulk around doors and windows to keep hot outside air from leaking inside.
