🎉 THANK YOU, LAKE HELEN! 🎉

What a wonderful day celebrating the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the City of Lake Helen Creative Arts Center (CAC)! ✂️🏛️

A special thank you to the DeLand & Greater West Volusia Chamber of Commerce for helping facilitate the ribbon cutting and making this milestone even more memorable.

We truly appreciate everyone who joined us to celebrate the opening of this beautiful new community space. Your attendance, support, and excitement made the occasion very special. ❤️

And we already have some exciting news… we have our first pending reservation! 🎊 We couldn't be more thrilled and look forward to seeing many, many more reservations, celebrations, meetings, programs, and special moments take place at the CAC in the years ahead.

This facility was created for our community, and we are excited to see it come to life!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project and celebration possible. Great things are happening in Lake Helen! 🌳✨

📢 CITY HALL CLOSURE NOTICE

City Hall will be temporarily closed tomorrow, September 4th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon as City staff participate in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the City of Lake Helen Creative Arts Center (CAC)! 🎀✂️

We are excited to celebrate the opening of this wonderful new community space and this special milestone for Lake Helen.

City Hall will reopen at 12:00 Noon for normal business.

🚶 Sidewalk Improvements on Lakeview Drive!

Sidewalk repairs identified during the City of Lake Helen’s AARP Walkability Study are being completed along Lakeview Drive. These improvements are helping make our community safer, more accessible, and more walkable for residents and visitors.

A big thank you to Volusia County for their quick response and great work in addressing these areas! 👏

Small improvements can make a big difference in keeping Lake Helen safe and walkable for everyone.

Water System Update

The City of Lake Helen is aware that some residents have experienced a chlorine and/or sulfur odor in their water following recent maintenance performed by U.S. Water.

City staff has been working closely with U.S. Water to address the issue and respond to resident concerns. U.S. Water has visited multiple homes throughout the city to conduct testing and investigate complaints.

According to U.S. Water, chlorine levels have remained within all approved safety limits, and testing has shown no indication that the water is unsafe for use.

We understand that the odor is unpleasant and can be an inconvenience, and we appreciate our residents’ patience while U.S. Water and City staff continue working to resolve the issue.

Lake Helen Stormwater & Church Street Update

The City of Lake Helen would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for stepping in and assisting our community with a temporary solution to the drainage issues along Church Street.

As the photos show, crews have been working to improve the movement of stormwater through this area. While this is a temporary measure and not the final solution, it is an important step toward addressing the flooding problems that have impacted Church Street and the surrounding area.

We also want to recognize and thank Senator Tom Wright and Representative Tramont, along with their staffs, for hearing our concerns, reaching out to FDOT, and helping get assistance to Lake Helen. Their responsiveness and willingness to advocate for our community are greatly appreciated.

There is still work to be done. The City will continue working with FDOT and our state partners toward long-term improvements to our stormwater infrastructure and Church Street.

This is what progress looks like—local and state partners working together to find solutions and protect our community.

Thank you to FDOT, Senator Wright, Representative Tramont, their staffs, and everyone involved in getting this work moving.
