Due to the upcoming weather Lanier County is opening up a shelter at the old Primary School. The shelter will be open by 9pm. Unfortunately it will not accommodate any pets. Please bring any medicine, and anything else you will need.

All commercial dumpster pickup for the City of Lakeland will be delayed until tomorrow due to unexpected weather conditions at the landfill.

Chief Slusher and the Lakeland Police Department would like to express our condolences to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the family of Deputy Browne who lost his life protecting the citizens of Crisp County.

Lakeland Police Department was informed today about a sighting of a Gaboon Viper, a venomous snake. Lakeland police department worked with DNR (Department of Natural Resources) to locate this snake and to warn the citizens of Lakeland. After further investigation the Lakeland police department was able to confirm that the call made to Tri County 911 was in fact a prank. There are pending charges in this case.

Lakeland Police Department wants to remind everyone that emergency services are there for anyone in need but it is not ok to abuse these services. Any false reports of crime, incidents, or other information no matter how minor, will be taken serious and investigated to the fullest.
