Lake County Victim Witness Lake County Victim/Witness is dedicated to providing the highest level of service, support and resources to victims of crime and their families.

Victim Witness provides immediate crisis response for victims of crime. The staff also functions as the liason for victims and witnesses with all components of the criminal justice system. Funding for our office is provided primarily through various grants from the State and Federal governments. Victim services are governed by California Penal Code 13835.5 which describes mandatory and optional se

rvices. Manadatory services are:
1) Crisis intervention
2) Emergency assistance
3) Resource and referral
4) Direct counseling
5) Victims compensation claim assistance
6) Assistance with property return
7) Orientation to the criminal justice system
8) Court escort/support
9) Training and presentations to criminal justice agencies
10) Public presentations and publicity
11) Case status and disposition of appropriate cases
12) Notification to friends, family and employers for victim
13) Employer notification
14) Restitution

Optional Services are:
(These are services that we may or may not be able to provide depending on staff availabilty)
1) Employer intervention
2) Creditor intervention
3) Child care
4) Witness notification
5) Funeral arrangements
6) Crime prevention information
7) Witness protection
8) Temporary Restraining Order
9) Transportation
10) Providing a safe waiting area for court proceedings

Every year Victim Witness advocates work hard to make sure that children who were victims of crime in our county have a positive interaction with law enforcement at the end of the year. This includes calling parents, making lists, shopping, wrapping, collecting and organizing presents. Thank you advocates and partner agencies for your commitment to our community!

This morning law enforcement agencies from all over Lake County and Victim Witness advocates were busy spreading holiday cheer. This year we delivered presents to 92 children in our community who have experienced trauma. None of this would have been possible without the assistance and generosity of the following people and organizations:
