Jean Lockhart Celebrates 100th Birthday
.
The Lakeway Ladies’ Golf Association was proud to host a 100th birthday party for Jean Lockhart. Jean is one of the 12 women who founded the LLGA in the early 1960s. Jean and her husband Warren retired here after an Air Force career and built a home on Vanguard along the #16 fairway of the Live Oak Golf Course. Jean, an avid golfer, played golf into her 98th year when she decided, “hang up her clubs”. Jean now resides at Belmont and remains active with her many friends.
.
Mayor Sandy Cox officially proclaimed May 20, 2019 to be Jean Lockhart Day in Lakeway. Congratulations Jean

City of Lakeway launches Parks and Recreation survey
The Lakeway Parks and Recreation online-only survey is now live and open to the public for two weeks at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/lakewayparks
Last fall, the City of Lakeway launched its first survey in four years. Green space and gathering points were clearly of great importance to our community. In addition, there were many comments about new programming, amenities, and extending hours at our facilities.
Having been tasked with the creation of our master parks and recreation plan, the Lakeway Parks and Recreation Committee is seeking further feedback on the city’s specific parks, trails, activity center, swim center, and other recreational opportunities.
Throughout the survey time, the Lakeway Parks and Recreation Committee and Public Engagement Advisory Committee members will be at various public events and locations to promote the survey and help those who would like assistance in taking it online. One of the first events on their schedule is the Brown Bag Luncheon Concert at noon Feb. 14 at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to help us mold the future of our parks.

Local Artists Take Part In “Cool Arts Party and Studio Tour
Hosted by the City of Lakeway Arts Committee
More than 20 local artists will participate in the annual Cool Arts Party and Studio Tour in Lakeway in March.
It will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 1 to 5 PM in the Activity Center and at three local studios in Lakeway on March 9 and March 10 from 12 to 6 PM. There will be more than twenty talented artists participating.
Lakeway Arts Committee Chairperson Janet Wright says, “One can expect a diversity of artwork and various media from talented local artists.”
This party is free to the public and will feature fine visual arts (paintings, jewelry, stained glass, and pottery).
Lakeway artist Mary Lou Yancey says, “It’s fun to see the wide variety of styles all in one place. You will find bargains not found in a gallery.”
Linda Buikema has participated for three years. She says, ”New residents are flocking to Lakeway, and the art community is booming. Attending the Cool Arts Party is much more convenient than driving into Austin to see art. And supporting local artists is a great way to make sure the art world continues to grow in this area.”

There is an active scam going on in town. Someone calls saying they are with Apple and your iCloud account has been "compromised". They want you to give them your information to ensure your iCloud account stays current and you don't lose your information. They are very pushy (we know, because they have been calling us at the Police Department a lot too!) Do not fall for this scam! Log into your Apple account (not using a link from an email - that is another scam sometimes) and check your account information.

Several water utilities that serve Lakeway customers are reporting that their water is safe, but some utilities and Lake Travis ISD schools are under a boil water notice.
Water is safe for customers of Lakeway Municipal Utility District, Hurst Creek MUD, and Water Control and Improvement District No. 17 (WCID 17).
Because of debris from flooding, Austin Water and Crossroads MUDs No. 11, No. 12, and No.13 issued a boil water notice the morning of Oct. 22. At this time, there is no timeline for when the Crossroads notice will be cancelled. For more information on the Crossroads MUDs, please visit www.crossroads.us.com.
*️⃣*️⃣According to the Western Travis County Public Utility Agency website, a boil water notice has been issued affecting the following Lake Travis ISD schools and facilities:
• Bee Cave Elementary
• Lake Pointe Elementary
• Lake Travis Middle School
• LTISD Transportation/Distribution/Information Technology Center
If you have questions about who your water supplier is or would like more information about the condition of your water, please read your water bill to determine the name of the utility that provides your water and contact them directly.
The City of Lakeway does not own or operate a water utility.
We are praying for all those affected by the recent flooding. Be safe out there!!
