đźš‘ MED 3 OUT OF SERVICE AGAIN đźš‘

The Lancaster Firefighters Association would like to inform our community that Med 3 is once again out of service due to ongoing air conditioning failures in the patient compartment.

On Thursday 5/29 around 5:00 PM, while transporting a patient, crews documented temperatures reaching 98°F in the back of the ambulance. The unit was taken out of service for repairs.

Around noon on Friday 5/30 vehicle maintenance appeared to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the air conditioning failed again shortly thereafter, forcing the ambulance back out of service.

Because it is now the weekend, no additional repair attempts are expected until Monday.

It does not appear that leadership will attempt to borrow an ambulance from another agency to help ensure our city remains fully protected while Med 3 is out of service.

This is more than a comfort issue. Ambulances serve as mobile emergency rooms, and maintaining a safe temperature is critical for both patients and the paramedics providing care.

When an ambulance is unavailable, it places additional strain on the remaining units serving our community and possibly delaying ambulance response times due to relying on mutual aid.

Our firefighters will continue providing the highest level of care possible, but we believe our citizens deserve reliable emergency equipment that can safely serve them when they need it most.

We also want to thank our mutual aid cities as we work through these tough times. DeSoto Fire Rescue, Wilmer Fire & OEM, Hutchins Professional Firefighter Association Local 5157, Glenn Heights Professional Firefighters Association Local 4400, Dallas Fire-Rescue, thanks you for hard work.

Today, Station 1 had a special visitor stop by.

Zeke spent some time with our firefighters, getting a behind the scenes look at what we do every day. Members of Local 3164 were proud to show him around the station, let him check out the apparatus, try on some gear, and even get his hands on a hose line.

Seeing the excitement and curiosity in young members of our community is a reminder that being a firefighter is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about building relationships, inspiring the next generation, and being a positive presence in the community we serve.

Thank you, Zeke, for spending part of your day with us. We hope you had a great time, and who knows, maybe one day we’ll see you wearing a Lancaster Fire helmet of your own.

If you’re ever out and about and see us training or at the station, don’t be afraid to stop by, say hello, and ask questions. We love sharing what we do with the community we proudly serve.

During EMS Week, we want to recognize the paramedics of Lancaster who answer the call every single day.

Beyond the fire scenes, our crews provide critical medical care to this community around the clock. From medical emergencies and traumatic injuries to moments when someone simply needs help, reassurance, and compassion, our firefighters are there.

The long hours, missed time with family, and constant demands of the job often happen quietly behind the scenes, but the impact they make on this community is undeniable.

We are proud of the dedication, professionalism, and heart our members bring to the citizens of Lancaster each and every shift.

From the Lancaster Professional Firefighters Association, thank you for everything you do.

🚨 Public Service Announcement 🚨

Attention residents of Lancaster:

We want to keep you informed about a temporary change in emergency response resources. One of the Lancaster Fire Department ambulances has been out of service since Thursday night 5/14 due to damage sustained from road conditions. The unit struck a pothole while in operation and is currently undergoing repairs.

This notice is not intended to cause alarm, but to ensure transparency and awareness within our community.

Fire department personnel will continue to respond to all emergencies, but we can only do so with the equipment we are provided. In the past, ambulances have been borrowed to help maintain service levels, but currently we are not borrowing one for reasons unknown.

Residents should be aware that ambulance response times MAY be delayed until the unit is back in service.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as fleet crews work to maintain the highest level of service possible.

Stay safe,
Lancaster Firefighters Association

🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE: FIRE STATION 3 🚨

Lancaster firefighters are sounding the alarm over serious mold, moisture intrusion, and air quality concerns inside Fire Station 3, the same building where firefighters eat, sleep, train, and live during 24 hour shifts and sometimes 48 hour shifts.

Independent testing requested by firefighters found concerning levels of mold inside the station. Even AFTER deep cleaning and city claims that the issue was simply “housekeeping,” additional testing still detected fungal contamination inside the building and HVAC areas.

This isn’t about dirty bunkrooms or missed chores. This is about years of documented roof leaks, HVAC water intrusion, plumbing leaks, and moisture problems that continue to raise concerns about the safety of the station itself.

Our firefighters already face enough dangers on emergency scenes. They should not have to question whether the station they return to after every call is making them sick.

The Lancaster Professional Firefighters Association is demanding transparency, accountability, and immediate action before another firefighter’s health is put at risk.

Lancaster firefighters will continue showing up for this community every single day. We are asking the City to finally show up for the firefighters.
