The Transportation Department is currently experiencing technical difficulties with our transportation software, which is preventing some students’ bus stop information from displaying correctly. We are actively working to resolve the issue and appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you have not moved within the past school year, your child’s bus stop, time and bus assignment remain the same.

On August 7, Ohio Department of Children and Youth Director Kara Wente, Assistant Director Jeff Van Deusen, Deputy Director of Communications Kari Akins and Diane Fox, Deputy Director of the Technical Assistance, Training, and Practice Division, visited the Kindergarten Readiness Camp hosted at Tallmadge Elementary School to see the program firsthand and hear directly from students and teachers.

The camp served 76 enrolled children across five classrooms, with an average daily attendance of 60 and a team of 18 staff. Programming was built to help children arrive at kindergarten ready to learn, with dedicated time for social skill development in the Dramatic Play Area and in-classroom Speech and Occupational Therapy lessons.

During the visit, leaders spent time in each classroom, joined the children in hands-on activities, and talked with teachers about what is working well and where they see room to grow.

The visit was a valuable opportunity to see how the Kindergarten Readiness Camp is preparing Lancaster City Schools' youngest learners for a strong start to school. Ohio Department of Children and Youth Thank you for visiting!

Lancaster City Schools bus drivers spent the last two days participating in a training program designed to prepare them to respond to active threats. S.T.A.R.T. (School Transportation Active-Threat Response Training) is composed of active-duty and former police officers, social workers, mental health experts, members of the United States military, and United States Secret Service personnel who deliver relevant, current, best-practice material in scenario-based exercise settings.

Our drivers received hands-on experience from these experts to prepare them to recognize threats early, make sound decisions under pressure, and better protect the students entrusted to their care.
