All visits to the care center are by appointment only. Please send an email with the ID # of the animal you'd like to meet to acclancaster@animalcare

.lacounty.gov and we'll reply as soon as possible. Be patient as the staff managing the inbox is also caring for the animals! Conchita is only 6 months old, surrendered because she was “chewing on stuff” and owner had no time to train her. She’s playful, affectionate, smart, and still a puppy that needs someone who will teach her, and give her the chance to grow into a great dog.

Conchita has been kenneled with several different dogs But despite being young, social and sweet, she’s had no interest and she is now urgent. She’s still just a baby who wants to be loved. Please help us get her seen.

Yancey seems like he’s used to being someone’s dog. He came in in a collar with a tag still attached. He knows the leash. He sits as politely to be taken on a walk. He loves to to cuddle with people and get attention. more than anything, he just wants to be where the people are.

Yancey arrived with injuries, but he’s doing much better now. But after over a month no one has come for him.

He’s 2 years old, ~ 50 pounds, and in playgroup he was calm and social with the other dogs. He’s affectionate, peopleoriented, and so happy to climb into your lap!

Yancey wants to belong to someone and he’s waiting for someone to choose him.

🎨 We’re looking for a face painter who would be willing to donate their time for our Clear the Shelters event on Saturday, August 29 from 11–3 at Lancaster Animal Care Center.
Our dogs offered to do it, but the whole “holding a paintbrush without opposable thumbs” thing was kind of a challenge. We decided we need a human.
You do not have to stay for the entire event, if you can give any window of time between 11 and 3, we would be soooooo grateful.

We’re hoping for lots of families and would love to add face painting to make the day even more fun while everyone comes out to meet the animals.
