A Red flag warning has been issued starting 9:00 am Thursday May 14,2026.

Winds are forecasted to be anywhere from 30-55 mph out of the South. Rapid rates of spread will be possible up to 6 mph in grass fuel types.

I have scheduled to turn off permit activations starting at midnight tonight for Pennington, Marshall, Kittson, Roseau and Northern Half of Beltrami Counties. No burning allowed Thursday.

This Red Flag Warning will most likely extend through Friday.

🔥🚩 NWS issued red flag warning until 8:00 pm tonight for Kittson and Marshall Counties. I have turned off the permit system currently. It is scheduled to come back on at 8:00 pm.

This has definitely been a busy week for our volunteer firemen! We had our medical training, a few grass fires and in our spare time away from work and our families, we finished tinning the roof and ceiling of our new building. Our next project will be installing the overhead doors! 🔥🧯🚒🔥

LFD had medical training this weekend. We covered basic first aid, CPR, and choking scenarios. We also covered anaphylaxis and overdoses. These are skills we hope to never have to use, but are well prepared for!

Message from the DNR:

Warroad Area will be turning on burning permit system for the season this morning. Burning permits will be required unless you have 3 inches or more of continuous snowpack.

Burning permit areas include Pennington, Marshall, North Beltrami, Roseau, Roseau East, and Kittson.

We still have areas that have more than 3 inches of snow. Most open areas are mostly snow free. Spring season is fast approaching.
