AV Alliance to End Homelessness (AVAEH) is a grassroots effort to find and house the most vulnerable, long-term homeless individuals in our community. AVAEH has signed
on to represent the Antelope Valley in the 100K Homes Campaign, where communities nationwide are to creating 100,000 households for our chronic homeless neighbors by
July 2014. The AV Alliance to End Homelessness is a collaborativ
e between several organizations such as Community Solutions, CHAMP Foundation, Tarzana Treatment Centers, and BARTZ Community Health Care Center. We are planning a weeklong effort (June 10-14, 2013) to identify and help persons who are homeless obtain and sustain permanent housing. The goal of the AVAEH is to create a by-name registry of people living on our streets and shelters, enabling us to prioritize those who have been homeless the longest and who are
the most vulnerable with chronic physical and mental health conditions. What we learn together during this week will help us develop permanent supportive housing system of care that will reduce chronic homelessness in the Antelope Valley. The campaign is recruiting dedicated volunteers to canvass the Antelope Valley streets and shelters to survey the city’s most vulnerable homeless individuals and families. To ensure the most accurate count possible, we will survey individuals early morning and evening hours for three consecutive days. The survey findings will be presented to the community
at our AVAEH Community Briefing on June 21, 2013, where we will recognize all our community partners who supported our efforts to end homelessness in Antelope Valley.
