Congressman Lloyd Smucker, care to comment: Two police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, sued the Trump administration to block the creation of a nearly $1.8 billion fund to pay pro-Trump rioters who attacked that Capitol and still harbor desire to harm the officers. They wrote “In the most brazen act of presidential corruption this century, President Donald J. Trump has created a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund to finance the insurrectionists and paramilitary groups that commit violence in his name.”

Baristas are the heartbeat of Starbucks. We are the ones who craft the drinks, build community with our customers, and keep our stores running every single day. But here’s the reality of working at Starbucks: we’re understaffed, struggling to get by, and lack critical on-the-job protection. Baristas have to rely on SNAP and Medicaid, and too often don’t get enough hours to pay rent or qualify for healthcare.

This will not be my win in November, but ours together. For those that spent numerous hours and energy canvassing, making phone calls and jumping in with help in a myriad of ways, this belongs to you. I am truly grateful for the support and teamwork that you offered off the bat!

To the voters, although I may not have met many of you yet, I thank every one of you for showing up and telling PA what you want and need. Whether it’s raising the minimum wage and tying it to the cost of living, lowering utility costs, access to affordable healthcare, or ensuring that our public schools give access to opportunities for all kids by being fully funded, I hear you.
