In Washington this year, the administration announced it was tearing out the 15th Street bike lane as “part of the president’s initiative to revitalize” the city. But in a 61-page ruling in April, Judge Amy Berman Jackson temporarily blocked the demolition plan citing an “absence of reasoned decision-making” in justifying the removal.

Last month, the Transportation Department told National Public Radio that liberals believe “that everyone should ride a bike to their shoebox-sized apartment to eat crickets to achieve a phony climate agenda.”

Mr. Duffy is calling for ripping out existing lanes and advocating for “a systematic change in transportation law to restrict the funding of bike lanes overall.”

Conservatives are portraying the bicycle itself as a political cause supported by left-wing dingbats.

District Attorney Heather Adams continues to claim that nothing is going to change through her office’s 287(g) agreement with ICE. However, tomorrow during the Lancaster County Commissioners’ Work Session Meeting, her office will submit a request for an astounding $350,000 grant from the DOJ. This money is available through the 287(g) agreement with the intent to aid in immigration enforcement.

It is clear the DA does not intend for things to stay the same, but is instead planning an increased involvement with ICE and federal immigration enforcement. This grant is explicitly for future enforcement, including a requirement to submit performance reports to DOJ.

The DA has made unsubstantiated claims about increased crime perpetrated by immigrants to justify these requests, while the data actually shows a substantial increase in non-criminal immigration arrests in the county.

Just last week Commissioner Josh Parsons wanted to pretend that these were just “national” issues that had nothing to do with local government, but here is a request and likely vote by the County Commissioners on substantial funding through a 287(g) agreement.
