Meet Maxime “Maxx” Barry of Newtown—founder of the Little Hero Foundation. The Little Hero Foundation was founded to further the goals of a better tomorrow by funding research for more direct and less harmful cancer treatments, and a brighter today for families in the trenches, fighting for their child’s life.

Maxx was inspired to create the foundation after her son Ben was diagnosed with rare liver cancer at just 5 months old. Ben’s cancer responded to the intense chemotherapy and he was able to have lifesaving liver resection surgery and he is now a happy, sweet, and active toddler.

Maxx’s resilience, strength, compassion, and drive should be an inspiration to us all. Join me in celebrating, applauding, and thanking Maxx for her incredible and tireless efforts in the fight against cancer. God Bless Maxx, Ben, and the entire Barry family.

Richard Trumka, head of AFL-CIO union federation, dies at 72 — CNBC

Incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of my friend, Rich Trumka. Rich spent his entire life fighting for working families, starting as a mine worker and culminating with his leadership role in the AFL-CIO. Rich was relentless in fighting for workers’ rights, workers’ safety, and workers’ pay. Most importantly, Rich loved his family more than life itself. He was truly someone I looked up to in the labor movement, and he left this life doing what he loved to do. The entire Fitzpatrick family stands with the Trumpka family during this difficult time.

Richard Trumka served as president of the 12.5-million-member AFL-CIO since 2009. President Joe Biden called the labor leader a close friend.

We simply cannot outsource our public safety and national security to foreign nations. We must reconstitute our healthcare and public safety supply chain back to the United States. Medical products, protective equipment, pharmaceuticals, emergency response equipment, and all other critical items and materials needed to respond to a national emergency must be produced domestically for domestic consumption, especially during a critical, time-sensitive crisis.
