Gov. Stitt declares state of emergency amid COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, confirms 8th case

As we continue to monitor the situation at the fire department, we want to share this info from a local news station. There has been a state of emergency declared by our governor today.

We ask that everyone stay ever vigilant, wash your hands often, and as requested by the governor, avoid gatherings of 50 people or more if possible.

Thank you as always for trusting us, and we will continue to monitor the situation from the firehouse as always!

The health and safety of this community is our #1 concern!

Gov. Kevin Stitt on Sunday declared a state of emergency for Oklahoma as the state's number of confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases continues to grow.

Today, March 8th is international women’s day! A day that we celebrate women, and they’re contributions to this nation, and this world!

Today we would like to focus on the role women play here at Langston City Fire Department. We take a massive amount of pride in the fact we have so many female firefighters, bucking the stereotype, that only men fight fire. We have watched as these strong, powerful women, have fought fire, trained, and been outstanding members of our department, showing other young girls out there nothing is impossible! Walking in the shadows of trailblazers like Clara Barton, Mary Eliza Mahoney, Elizabeth Blackwell, and so many more!

Thank you all again ladies, and enjoy your day!!

Today, we seen the fire weather forecast do exactly what we feared.
Today at about 13:50 the first call went out for four homes engulfed in flames. Unfortunately they were a total loss. Fire progression was stopped on another, but it did see major smoke and heat damage on the facade of the home.

Stopping these fires would not have been possible without the help of our neighboring departments. We would like to give a special thank you to Coyle, Meridian, and Guthrie, and Sooner fire departments! All of whom played a role in helping us extinguishes some of the blazes today.

Nestled in Logan County in the state of Oklahoma is the City of Langston. Popular for being home to the historically black College of the same name, Langston University. Several people live in this town, but one name might catch the ear of others when his name is said, “Rob Lee Davis”. He is the...

On 2/21/2020 an e-mail was sent to the Logan County Sheriffs office. It was excitedly shared with fire chief Rob Lee Davis, letting him know what had been said about this Langston firefighter (Public Information Officer Shaun Pryor) by a citizen.

We share with you the e-mail below, and stand proud knowing the standard of Langston City Fire Department is being upheld all around the region, & shines on us all as a positive reflection on us as a community.

I wanted to mention a man that works over at Ritz safety next door, I see him all the time, and he`s wearing a hoodie that says “Langston Fire”. The name on the front is Pryor, and he drivers an orange Camaro. I mention all this because I don’t know who he is very well. He has come in to warn us about aggressive homeless people breaking into the cars next door or in our parking lot, he has put himself between them and us to keep them from attacking us at one point, we`ve seen him giving rain coats to some of the local homeless people when it`s raining out here, and just yesterday bringing food to a homeless man that was injured in the parking lot.

I know there is no way he HAS to do all he`s doing, but it seems really special to all of us here. Also, in my own experience in the hospitality industry, everyone loves to tell you when you do something wrong, but no one sends a e-mail or calls to say when you’re doing something right. I guess we just wanted to say thanks for sharing him with us, I know the people in the area appreciate his compassion and help, and we do to!

Thanks.

Guthrie Fire - EMS

There is a lot of smoke in the air currently. There is no danger to the Guthrie area at this time. Most of the smoke is blowing in from the large fires in NW Oklahoma.

There are also currently fires between Mulhall and Stillwater as well as NW of Cashion in the Cimarron River bottom, north of the Big 4 townsite.

11/25/2019

Please be aware Langston Fire will be apart of a control burn off of highway 33 tomorrow morning . So if you see smoke in the area that could be where it’s coming from , but if you see smoke please report it if you think it’s elsewhere.

We will have multiple trucks on scene !!!
