VA announced today that it has processed more than 3 million disability claims in FY 2026 — topping last year’s record. Processing times were cut nearly in half over the past year.

While AMVETS welcomes the faster decisions, we continue pressing VA to improve accuracy, which had been declining. The accuracy rate climbed to 94% this year, the highest in two years. That is solid progress, but it is not the finish line.

VA must keep improving. AMVETS’ goal is at least 96% accuracy.

Veterans earned these benefits. They also earned decisions that are right the first time.

“Having my father under our roof has strengthened us in ways I never expected. My children get more time with their grandfather, and they see that we take care of one another in our family, no matter the age or our living circumstances. That is the biggest win of all, but it would be helpful to know that veterans and families like mine will receive the support they have earned.”
