Central Michigan Volunteers are partnering with Fenner Nature Center. Removing invasive species and creating new plant identification stakes. They are thrilled to be able to work together for this beautiful nature center to ensure others can continue to take part of the educational and nature focused opportunities the center provides for the community.

Today marks the beginning of the 2026 Russ Mawby Signature Service Projects across Michigan.

These first photos from the West Michigan project capture exactly what the Russ Mawby Signature Service Projects are all about — people coming together to serve, uplift communities, and continue a legacy rooted in compassion and action.

Over the next two days, hundreds of Michigan AmeriCorps members and volunteers will participate in projects across the state honoring the life and impact of Dr. Russell “Russ” Mawby. From trail maintenance and beautification efforts to environmental restoration and community improvements, each act of service reflects the power of collective impact.

Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and community leader showing up to make a difference. The legacy of service continues through all of you.
