Rep. Steve Marino Rep. Steve Marino (R-Harrison Township) proudly serves Harrison Twp. and portions of Clinton and Macomb Townships in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Steve Marino was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2016 and represents the residents of the 24th District including Harrison Township and portions of Clinton and Macomb townships. Rep. Marino grew up in Harrison Township and graduated from L’Anse Creuse High School. He is an alumnus of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and earned degrees in Economics, Public Policy and Public Administration, and Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. While attending Michigan State University, he played lacrosse and served as Student Body President. Rep. Marino previously served on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, representing residents of Harrison Township and St. Clair Shores. He was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Board of Commissioners and Chair and Vice-Chair of the Justice and Public Safety Committee. He also served as Macomb County’s delegate to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments Executive Committee; served on the National Association of Counties’ Steering Committee on Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs; and was a member of the Michigan Association of Counties’ Economic Development Committee. He also served on the Harrison Township Zoning Board, and is currently a member of the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy and Military Affairs Committees. Rep. Marino is active in the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce, L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Foundation, Huron Pointe Homeowners Association and Selfridge Base Community Council. He also serves as Co-Chair of the L’Anse Creuse Community Action Coalition, Chair of OperationRx’s Legislative Steering Subcommittee, and is involved in other local community advocacy organizations.

Rep. Marino introduces bill to combat alcohol and opioid abuse -

Recent statistics indicate the alarming abuse problems are worsening. Opioid deaths in Michigan rose from 622 in 2011 to 1,689 in 2016, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services. Opioid prescriptions in the state now top 11 million per year. The number of people in treatment for substance use disorders also is growing and exceeds 32,000.

My bill will deliver more resources to the agencies on the front lines of this fight.
