America’s political system is built upon laws, cooperation, and civility – the use of violence is unacceptable and despicable. I’m very thankful for the law enforcers who halted the terrorists that planned to kidnap Governor Whitmer. Justice will be served and those who intended to perpetrate these actions will be held responsible. Their violent scheme betrays the values that they claim to represent and is an menace to our way of life.

Today, I paid tribute to fallen first responders during a special House session with fellow Michigan legislators commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. These brave men and women deserve our gratitude. They keep our communities safe and make them a better place to live, work and raise a family. As I was last year, I am deeply touched to participate in this ceremony and I am deeply indebted to the sacrifices our brave first responders make every day they put on their uniforms.

Schools are facing great challenges due to COVID19 and the great impact the virus has had on our state. We must ensure that we are doing everything we can to support Michigan’s K-12 institutions as administrators, teachers, support staff, students and parents move forward in a new learning environment. Earlier today I lent my support to a plan that would provide schools in my district with the resources they need to continue delivering a top-notch educational experience to students. It also provides schools with the flexibility they require to adapt to changing conditions. I know that our schools know what is best for their students and I will always work to support them.

Main Street USA is hurting. Michigan's small businesses are vital parts of our community and support many families in my district and beyond. We need to think creatively about how to best support these community staples during this uncertain time so we can support the families that rely on them for employment, goods, and services. Today I voted in favor of HB 5671 and HB 5810 which will help support businesses in Kent County while protecting the financial needs of local government and school systems. Michigan declined Quicken Loans' offer to aid unemployment system

I am beyond frustrated that the UIA and DTMB seem to not recognize the grave situation they have put Michiganders in. On a daily basis my office receives countless calls from people who are in immediate need of support due to the impacts of COVID19 on their livelihood. Many people qualify for benefits but are left at the mercy of a failing system and routinely denied support. This staggering failure can not continue.

Quicken Loans, the nation's largest mortgage lender, offered to help the state of Michigan with surging unemployment claims.

I want to serve as your voice to the absolute best of my ability and I am here to help you get through these difficult times in any way that I can.

In Michigan, the pandemic has taken our friends, our family, our jobs, our livelihoods and our dreams. Share your story.

I have received several inquiries regarding the changes to Michigan Auto No-Fault law this past week. I was proud to vote to give Michiganders the option of saving money on their auto insurance. You can visit, www.ReduceMiRatesNow.com, which has information that will help you prepare to choose a coverage level that this right for you and your family.

My constituents made no-fault reform a priority, and I took their concerns to heart and worked to deliver the results they expected. Michigan’s overhaul of this coverage system will provide real, tangible savings to ratepayers.

Note: Please be sure to consult with your trusted insurance agent to ensure you choose a coverage plan that is in the best interest of you and your family.

I have heard from thousands of my constituents that have expressed varying view points on Michigan’s response to the COVID19 Pandemic. Many people, including myself, are very concerned with the manner in which the Executive is choosing to use the authority given to her during an officially declared state of emergency. It is clear, as the COVID19 crisis has unfolded, giving complete and total authority to one person for extended periods of time to make life altering decisions affecting nearly 10 million people is not a workable solution or appropriate in today’s modern democratic society. I voted today on measures to both not extend the governors currently declared state of emergency and to empower the Michigan House of Representatives to bring legal action against the executive to clarify and challenge her announced extension of a state of emergency.

This vote is not a reflection on the crisis that Michigan faces. COVID19 still poses a tangible threat to Michigan residents and efforts to combat its spread in our community must be taken seriously. My vote is a vote to restore Michigan to proper and just democratic values and operation. There is no reason that we cannot work together and respond quickly and effectively to this crisis through the normal democratic process. I am fully committed to doing everything we can to protect public health and to ensure Michiganders are able to live full and fruitful lives while working to limit the spread of COVID19. I will stay in session in the House of Representatives 24 hours a day 7 days a week if that is what is required to ensure Michiganders are getting the representation they deserve.

Undoubtedly there will be people who disagree with my vote for one reason or another. Regardless of where you stand it is important for you to know that I would never cast a vote that I did not fully believe in. These are very difficult decisions that I will never shy away from. I am proud to be able to have an open, civic, and honest dialogue about any vote that I cast. I can be reached at 517-373-8900 and [email protected] and would be more than happy to discuss any issues you wish to discuss.

I stand ready to work with all governmental entities at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure that we are making the right decision for Kent County and for the State of Michigan.

It is time to begin discussing a thoughtful plan to move Michigan forward during this uncertain time. Earlier this week my colleagues and I released a framework that could be used to move Michigan past our initial response to this crisis. Any plan we have moving forward must protect public health and get Michiganders back to work and life in a safe and responsible manner.

Opinion: Whitmer should reveal her plan for rescinding restrictions

"The twin virtues of humility and transparency would have created more trust among those who consent to be governed". It is time to come together, discuss all of the facts and data in an open and transparent way, and chart a course forward.

"The models on which the Governor based her decision weren’t just wrong, they were staggeringly wrong," writes McNeilly.

I want to thank your office and especially Zach who have played a huge role in helping me finally get through to the Michigan UIA office I initially applied at the end of March and finally received a phone call from someone within UIA this past Monday who ended up lying to me but I received another call today from another staff member that I hope wasn’t doing the same and hopefully I should be receiving my benefits within a day or 2
Dude, where are you on the lockdown? Grow a pair will you. Michele Hoitenga is all over this thing. You seem to be more of an assistant crossing guard than actually advocating your constituency of small business owners.
Thank you for returning my call and being patient with us. We are all hopeful
Mark Huizenga this is an informational post at best. I very much appreciate the efforts and work by you so far. But it is not enough. However it’s time in this state for candor from we the people. You and the GOP are not doing enough for us in Michigan. The reason a two party system can work is for times , exactly, like this. The GOP controls both our state senate and representatives. Yet we see little, almost non existent , focused energy publicly to pressure our misguided and malicious governor to approach the serious issue with true leadership and caring for constituents. It’s your turn for true leadership. Stand up, stand firm and stand loud. We are paying close , really close attention to our GOP leaders. Are they truly working for us, or just playing politics with our futures, our lives and our emotional health and well being. Don’t let Michigan just follow. Lead or get out of the way, even nationally. Is it truly the best approach to restrict an entire state with OPPRESSIVE retaliation? Look at our numbers and guide us unconventionally. We can listen and work with some restrictions in West Michigan. Look what we have done so far! I shut my company down for weeks , even after qualifying in CISA. There are a lot of unhappy voters in Michigan paying close attention to our State level Senators snd Representatives right now. Come re-election time there may be new movements to make change happen for “the people”! How are you going to lead?
Mark Huizenga how do we fix this? Who do we need to call? I'll put together a large list of petition signers and/or callers, just point me in the right direction.
Creative Technologies Academy and I were visited today by State Representative, Mark Huizenga. I'm grateful for lawmakers who support equality and choice in education for all students.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Mark.
Thank you
Shannon needs your help move swiftly to assist protect the lawful woman who has been targeted for exposing corruption
State Representative Mark Huizenga, What kind of monsters remove a disabled woman, suffering from PTSD, and her disabled children from their home, throwing them to the streets? In the dead of winter, no less! Who exactly are you in office to represent? Obviously, it is not "The People" whom have placed you there. What is wrong with you??? Have you no compassion for those, whom you were placed in Public Trust to protect? Shannon Tanis is a highly educated woman, standing in law, to protect her children and their home, committed to her responsibility, keeping them safe and warm.Shannon has followed Due Process of Law and has submitted her Petition of Remonstrance, to Redress her Grievances. Many eyes are on this case. The fraud has been exposed, as will be, this DEFACTO Government of Michigan. The living men, behind the fraud, will face liability for their actions. Whether they be good or evil. The People have had enough. We are gathering...We are coming, in great numbers, with our Rights in hand.Life is nothing but choices. Choose your side. Choose wisely.
