I’ve tried reaching out to the golf course owner by both phone and email and have received no response. Meanwhile, the condition of the property continues to deteriorate, and the City hasn’t issued a fine in over a year.

We fine residents when their properties aren’t maintained. Why should this be any different?

🚨A section of Winslow Trail, a walking and biking trail which runs from Holiday Drive to Eisenhower Road and connects the Woodland Hills and Fairway Estates subdivisions in Lansing, is currently closed.🚨

Circle H Development has begun work on Phase II of the Monroe Manor Subdivision. To construct Ledbetter Lane, Winslow Trail has been closed in the area shown on their provided graphic. We anticipate this work to continue into spring. Once the contractor has completed this phase of construction the trail will reopen. A raised, speed-table-style crosswalk will be installed onto Leadbetter Lane where the newly constructed road and trail intersect.

The city asks trail users not to trespass into the active construction zone and to obey all posted barricades and signs.

Started off dry...ended up soaked! Huge shoutout to the Lansing City Fire Department for showing their love for our community by helping celebrate the final day of St. Francis de Sales Totus Tuus (VBS).

People often see the council meetings, but that's really just a small part of serving on the City Council.

Over the past couple of months, I've had the chance to participate in Leavenworth's inaugural Kansas Summer Spirit Festival, meet with community members over lunch, visit with residents at Twin Oaks Assisted Living and Independent Living, and attend today's 6th Annual Community Baby Shower.

I could show up to the meetings twice a month and call it good, but I don't think that's enough. In June and July alone, several residents reached out about issues they were having with the City. We were able to connect with staff and address those issues. I love being the voice for people who didn't think they'd be heard.

If you ever have a question, concern, or even just an idea, don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for trusting me to serve Ward 4.

🚨Early voting for the August 4th Primary Election is now open! 🚨

You can vote at the County Courthouse:
✅ Monday - Friday, 8 AM and 4 PM until August 2nd.
✅ Until NOON on Monday, August 3rd.
OR
✅On Saturday, August 1st at the Lansing Fire Department from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Contact the City Clerk's office at 913-727-3036 with questions about voter registrations. You must already be registered in order to participate in early voting. Register by October 13th to vote in the November 3rd General Election.

🚨We hope you all had an AWESOME Fourth of July 🎆, but now we have to get back to our regularly scheduled programming and to mention another kind of smoke 💨in the air.

Starting tomorrow, July 6th, customers may notice smoke coming from their sanitary sewers over the next two or three days. This is part of a test to find leaks in the system. The non-toxic, odorless smoke is blown into sewer manholes, goes through the pipes, and comes out where there are broken pipes or where roof downspouts, outside area drains, or foundation drains are connected to the sanitary sewers. What exactly is a smoke test?
A small crew will use a high capacity blower smoke technique to test each sewer pipe. Smoke blowers are placed on manholes and smoke is blown through the sewer system. Anywhere the smoke exits, there is potential for stormwater or groundwater to enter the sewer system.

Why is the City smoke testing sanitary sewers?
It is necessary to perform a smoke test because it is important to locate defects in the sewer lines.

The discharge of personal fireworks is allowed within Lansing city limits from July 1 to July 4th only. Fireworks may be discharged on personal property between the hours of noon and 10 p.m. July 1 - 3, and between the hours of noon and 11 p.m. on July 4.
