What is a hate crime? A hate crime is any act of intimidation, harassmen

t, physical force, or threat of physical force motivated in whole or in part because of one’s race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, or age. The Alliance’s areas of focus
include:
-Education
-Enforcement
-Intake
-Victim Support

Hate Crime Indicators

-Is the victim a member of a target racial, religious, ethnic/national origin or sexual orientation group?

-Do members of another group overwhelmingly outnumber members of the victim’s group in the area where the incident took place?

-Was the victim in the company of, or actively involved with, members of the offender group?

-Were there any offensive symbols, words, or acts made by the offender?

-Is there another clear motivation for the incident? For information about
