Skip the fireworks this year, why don't ya?

More fires start on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. With drought conditions and fire potential both staying high through the weekend, we're offering a simple solution: Attend a professional fireworks display instead of DIY-ing it on your property (or your neighbor's).

Remember: Our statewide fire restrictions prohibit fireworks statewide on non-municipal, non-federal and non-Tribal lands covered wholly or in part in timber, brush, grass, grain, or other flammable vegetation.

That's a lot of words that really boil down to: Don't risk it.

Leaving fireworks to the professionals reduces the risk of injury, unintentional wildfire starts, roof damage and litter.

From White Rock to Roswell, there are public displays happening all over the state—find one near you: mailchi.mp/state/nmfd-july-2026-newsletter

Celebrate our 250th birthday responsibly this year—have fun and stay safe!
