Hello friends! I voted today. I voted for Liberty Leavitt for CCSD Trustee District A. I'm asking you to as well.
Liberty, like myself, is a former CCSD administrator who understands the flaws and bright spots within the district. She'll be effective at supporting positive change. She's an educated leader with a passion for service and will represent our kids well.
Lisa, her opponent, is the head of the support staff union - a group that directly negotiates with the Sup and his team. Unless she denounces her current role she's a blatant conflict of interest to have in office.
In fact, Lisa openly stated in a candidate forum that I was in that she ran simply because her union team was "looking for someone to run for office" and they realized she was electable. Let that sink in.
Unions routinely stack boards with people who they know will be friendly to them - that's just politics and money at play - however, putting someone currently employed by the union on the board is a blatant overstep and tax payers and kids will pay the price of the bias that member would bring for their own interests.
