🇺🇸| We would like to invite you to visit the Embassy of Lithuania in Washington, D.C.!

In 2022, we celebrate the centennial of 🇱🇹Lithuanian - 🇺🇸USA diplomatic relations. COVID pandemic is currently restricting the ability to organize bigger events at the Embassy. However, we seek to welcome our friends for smaller private visits.

❗️In 2022, every third Friday of the month the Embassy will open its doors to everyone interested in learning more about this historic building and the centenary of Lithuanian – USA diplomatic relations.

❗️The first Open Door Friday will take place on January 2️⃣1️⃣, 4-7 PM. For registration and more information about the visit, please contact [email protected]

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will require all visitors to present proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken 24 hours before the visit.

Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Zalgiris (Grunwald) in 1410 When we fought invading crusaders and won. We will continue to aid the Ukrainians in their fight until that battle is also won!

Mūsų mintyse - ⚔️kovojanti 🇺🇦Ukraina. Ir už mus 🌎
Būna, kad kova su ginklu rankose yra vienintelė išeitis apsiginti, sustabdyti priešą, išvyti įsibrovėlį.
Šiandien minime Ž𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐦ūš𝐢𝐨 612-ąsias metines. 𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟎 𝐦. 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐬 𝟏𝟓 𝐝. jungtinės Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės ir Lenkijos Karalystės pajėgos susikovė su Kryžiuočių ordinu ir nugalėjo. Mūšio lauke jungtinei kariuomenei vadovavo Lietuvos didysis kunigaikštis Vytautas. Lietuva po šio vieno iš didžiausių viduramžių Europoje mūšių tapo didžia, galinga Europos valstybe.
O kas jei...?
Pasak istoriko, habil. dr. Edvardo Gudavičiaus, Vytauto Didžiojo valdymas 1392-1430 m. – epochinių permainų metas. Anot jo, jei ne Vytautas, tokios valstybės kaip dabar, tiksliau sakant, jokios valstybės neturėtume...
Taigi, šiandien semkimės stiprybės iš praeities, eikime tiesos bei šviesos keliu, dirbkime žmonių gėrybei ir būkime pasiruošę apginti savo Tėvynę. Tą jau darome remdami Ukrainą.

There are times when using a weapon is the only way to defend yourself, to stop the enemy, to chase away the intruder.
Today we mark the 612th anniversary of the 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 Ž𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐬 (Grunwald). On 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟓, 𝟏𝟒𝟏𝟎 the combined forces of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland fought against the Teutonic Order and won. The leader in the battlefield was Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas the Great. After the battle Lithuania became a grand and powerful European state.
But what if...?
According to the historian prof. Edvardas Gudavičius, the rule of Vytautas (1392-1430) marked the time of epochal changes. According to him, if it wasn't for Vytautas, we wouldn't have a state like it is now, or rather, no state at all...
So, today, let's draw strength from the past, walk the paths of truth and light, work for the good of people and be ready to defend our Motherland. And we are already doing all that by supporting Ukraine.
