Last weekend Nevada ESGR had an information table and gave a briefing to soldiers and family members of the Nevada National Guard's 1859th Transportation Company (Light-Medium Truck) as they prepared to deploy on an operational mission later this year. Northern Area Chair Bob Fritz and military-outreach volunteer Carmen Rank briefed and answered questions about the soldiers' rights and responsibilities to ensure that they are reemployed by their civilian employers upon their return to Nevada.

The Nevada Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (a Department of War activity) needs volunteers to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. Earlier this month, the Nevada Committee for Employer Support and the Nevada Army National Guard hosted a bosslift for the civilian employers of Nevada Guardsmen. The purpose of a bosslift is to show employers what their employers do when pulling military duty, thank the employers for working with their servicemembers to allow them to serve, and to have a little fun around military equipment. In Northern Nevada, we hosted 30 employers at the Army Aviation Facility at Stead Airport and took them for ride over Lake Tahoe on a CH-47 Chinook heavy-light helicopter.
