The Alessandra Foundation

The Alessandra Foundation To promote an environment of truth and public awareness about domestic violence! If we had known, Alessandra’s death might have been prevented.

Alessandra Barlas was just 27 years old when she was murdered in October 2015 by her former boyfriend. We, her family, learned afterward that he had previously served time in jail for a domestic violence conviction. Alessandra’s murder is a tragic example of our need for a different approach in dealing with convicted abusers. Today, the law enforcement authorities are not required to make informat

ion available to the public regarding who are sentenced for domestic violence, despite the fact that 60% of arrested abusers are arrested again for domestic abuse in the first five years after being convicted. The Alessandra Foundation is purely a volunteer effort with no financial benefit to any officer or Board member. All money raised will be used exclusively for the Foundation’s education and advocacy programs.

It has been 10 years today that Alessandra was brutally murdered - taken from her family and friends. She lived a very long and active life in 27 years. She was full of life and love. She truly understood and lived her life how Paul described love - “(Love) does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love NEVER fails” 1 Cor 13:6-8a NLT. We continue to honor her memory and legacy of the meaning of her name - "Helper and Defender of Mankind." Please hug your friends and family, not just today, but every day. She passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, so she is safe for eternity. Se agapo, Alessouli❤️

When is enough, enough?😢💔😢💔 Restraining orders provide false sense of security. This is a mental illness issue. Wake up America. Criminals don’t follow the law, so don’t expect them to. Prosecute and lock them up for a long time. Policies matter. Government exists to protect the innocent not the guilty

Twenty-year-old Sarah Carroll was killed by her ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide at a Michigan apartment while she was reportedly seeking a restraining order against him.
