Congratulations retired CMSAF JoAnne (Jo) Bass! Thank you, for your Service and Commitment to US. I appreciate your transparency during this transition. The uncertainty of “what next?” The mental and emotional changes we experience. Transitioning from the United States Air Force is a huge change. Many of us, even when highly successful in our military careers, struggle with mourning the loss of “what was” while discovering our “what next.” The truth is, our life as we know it will forever be changed. Our new normal may not be exactly as we envisioned, for some of us it’s even better than expected. Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. During SAAPM and year-round, VA works to raise awareness of its services for survivors of military sexual trauma (MST), which refers to sexual assault or threatening sexual harassment that occurred during military service.
VA understands that healing after MST takes time, and that MST can affect Veterans and former service members in many different ways. That’s why VA offers free, MST-related services year-round that are tailored for each individual.
