Hanukkah Message from the City of Laurel

On behalf of the City of Laurel, I extend warm greetings to all members of our community who observe Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, celebrated this year from December 14 through December 22, 2025.

Hanukkah is a meaningful time of reflection that honors faith, perseverance, and the triumph of light over darkness. It is a celebration that reminds us of the enduring values of hope, family, and community principles that strengthen and unite the City of Laurel.

The City of Laurel is proud to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of our Jewish residents and neighbors. We remain committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community where all traditions are respected and honored.
From our Laurel family to yours, may this Festival of Lights bring peace, joy, and renewed hope.

Happy Hanukkah.
Keith R. Sydnor
Mayor, City of Laurel, Maryland

BGE – An Exelon Company – demonstrated true community commitment.
External Affairs Manager Brandon Jackson and his team spent the day conducting hands-on community outreach at the Craig A. Moe Multi-Service Center.

Their team assisted with:
• Cleaning and organizing the storage closet
• Monitoring and supporting operations in the laundry room

This is the essence of Public–Private Partnerships businesses stepping up to support our community, strengthen our shared spaces, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

Thank you, BGE, for your continued partnership and service to the City of Laurel.

🎉 Adopt-a-Senior Citizen Toiletry Pilot Program Update 🎉

I am truly grateful and excited to share this moment with our community.

Our Adopt-a-Senior Citizen Toiletry Pilot Program has officially begun distributing items—and some of our seniors have already started receiving their care packages. The joy on their faces says it all.

Earlier today, I received a heartfelt phone call and a beautiful video from the seniors at Selborne House Senior Apartments. Mrs. Ifill asked me personally to share the video, and I’m honored to do so.

Moments like this brighten my day and remind me why we serve. Laurel is a strong, loving, and connected community, and our seniors are the heartbeat of our city.

Thank you to everyone who supports our senior citizens. Together, we’re making a real difference.
