Wow! There is just over two weeks until Election Day and I am working on getting as much information out to you all as possible.

I would like to follow up to some of the responses I got to the Q&A that was posted last week about what qualities and values you ln are most important in a Town Justice. The majority of the responses mentioned transparency, well several others responded with honesty and fairness. I agree, I think those are all very important qualities, if not the most important qualities, for a Town Justice to possess. I believe each of the mentioned qualities and values I possess and I have shown that to be true on countless occasions in both my personal life and professional interactions.

I have a story about fair; for many years I sat on the panel that interviewed potential new recruits for the Department, another member of the panel always would ask the candidates what they thought was more important, being fair or being equal (*** equal like everyone gets a participation trophy, NOT like equality equal). Many were stumped by this question, maybe you are too, I certainly was. I spent a lot of time thinking how can one be more important than the other, they are basically the same thing, and then I realized they are far from the same thing, they are in fact very different, and being fair can be far more important than being equal. When being equal, everyone gets the same exact resources or treatments, while when being fair, the specific needs of the individual can be taking into consideration and then the resources or treatments become more beneficial to that specific individual. I think being able to take into account the totality of someone’s situation or circumstance and then determine a fair outcome or consequence should play a huge role in the judicial system and being fair certainly should be a quality not only possessed but also made a priority in a Town Justice.

I do believe being fair is a quality I possess and have shown during my career in Law Enforcement. I have mentioned it before, one of my favorite parts of being a Police Officer in a small town is building a report with the members of the community and really getting to know their circumstances and their needs. I think in many cases I was able to take that information and truly be fair when handling and addressing what ever the situation may have been.

When it comes to transparency and honesty, I don’t think you can have one without the other and I don’t think you can be a successful Town Justice without possessing both qualities. I know both professionally and personally I have always been very transparent and honest, sometimes even too open and honest (if that’s possible). I have never been afraid to share my thoughts or opinions even when it’s not the popular one. I am outspoken, but I speak the truth and am always myself and always sharing my real beliefs and thoughts.

Since deciding to run for Town Justice I have been transparent and honest in everything I have put out there, between questionnaires I have submitted to get endorsed, conversations I have had with so many community members about my thoughts and opinions about the role of Town Justice, and what I have put on my page. I promise to do so throughout my campaign (though there is not much time left) and for the entirety of my term if I get elected.

To show you just how open, honest, and transparent I am, in over twenty years in Law Enforcement as a Police Officer with the Le Roy Police Department, I have never had any disciplinary action taken against me or any founded personnel complaints. I have received, I believe, three Counseling Memos (those aren’t considered disciplinary), one for forgetting a scheduled shift when I was working part time, another for hitting a parked car while working a midnight shift, and lastly, one for passing a stopped school bus, these incidents were all over fifteen years ago. I have no problem sharing that, but you don’t have to take my word for it, you can FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) request my personnel file at the Village Office if you would like.

I am always happy to answer your questions, if there is something you would like to hear from me about please comment below or send a private message. I will do my best to respond and make sure all your questions get answered.

Lastly, this weekend my son’s youth football team will be playing in the championship game so I will end this time with a GO KNIGHTS! ❤️🖤🏈

I am very eager to share some news with you: after more than twenty-one years with the Le Roy Police Department I will be retiring in February and hoping to continue my service to our community in a new role.

I am proud and excited to officially announce my candidacy for Le Roy Town Justice.

Why am I running? I have asked myself this question several times, especially with the ongoing challenges faced by the judicial system in this state. I have come to the conclusion that there are several reasons why I want to run and why I hope to be the next Le Roy Town Justice. To start, the part of my career I have enjoyed the very most is getting to truly know the members of the community and being able to build a report with them (that is the wonderful part of working in a smaller, very close knit community). In doing that you get a chance to know the real needs of the community members and then have a unique opportunity to really truly help and assist them. I have enjoyed being able to do this throughout my career and feel in this new role, though it may present itself differently, I will continue to be able to know and see the needs and I will continue to have the means, tools, and resources to assist with whatever the needs may be. This role also interests me because strongly believe in a justice system that is fair and treats all individuals with dignity. At the very beginning of my Law Enforcement career, my Dad gave me some advice, he told me, “treat everyone like you would want yourself or your family to be treated if they found themselves in that situation”. That advice has stuck with me for the duration of my career and something I believe I have successfully done (with the exception of a few individuals that really tested my patience, I am only human). I believe this advice also applies to the role of Town Justice and I look forward to having the opportunity to implement it in the court room. Lastly, over the past twenty-one years I have gained many skills and perspective that I feel has uniquely prepared me to serve our community in this new role which only furthers my interest in the position.

I would like to share with you a little bit about my career and the experiences I have had that I think will greatly assist me in the role of Town Justice. Over the past two decades with the Le Roy Police Department I have taken on many responsibilities, roles, and titles. For the first several years of my career I was assigned to the Genesee County Drug Task Force, I served as the department’s Domestic Violence Resource Officer, I managed cases involving registered s*x offenders, I sat in on and provided input at our school safety meetings, I was responsible for overseeing the evidence room, and had the role of Field Training Officer to help teach and guide our new recruits. I also earned promotions to Sergeant and later to Detective, roles that gave me the opportunity to lead and serve in even greater ways.

I have seen first hand the challenges we face, drug-related crime, domestic violence, the responsibility of monitoring and managing registered s*x offenders, the increase in mental health related issues, and the importance of accountability in every aspect of Law Enforcement.

I believe Justice is not just about punishment, it’s about fairness, safety, and upholding the values we share as a community. As your Town Justice I will bring the lessons I have learned throughout my career with me, I will listen carefully, treat everyone how I would want my family treated, and ensure that the law is applied fairly and consistently.

I am humbled by the support I have received from my family, friends, and members of this community. I am honored to have received the support and the endorsements from both the Republican and Conservative Committees. I appreciate you taking the time to read a little bit about me and what I would bring to the role of Le Roy Town Justice and I would be grateful to have your vote on Election Day. GO BILLS!
