After a few weeks of traveling, Congressman Randy Weber and I are back at it!

Last night, we had the honor of joining friends in Orange County for the swearing-in of newly elected GOP County Chairman Patrick Rainey, along with a strong slate of new and returning precinct chairs.

We were proud to be joined by Dr. Ray Callas, candidate for Texas House District 21, County Judge John Gothia, and many outstanding county and local elected officials who continue to lead with conviction, service, and a deep love for Southeast Texas.

Orange County may sit on the far eastern edge of the district, but make no mistake; it is one of the backbones of TX-14. This community is filled with some of the strongest, hardest-working, and most conservative Republicans you’ll find anywhere.

We are grateful for the men and women stepping up to serve the GOP at the grassroots level. Now the real work begins: organizing, energizing, and turning out voters this November to help secure Republican victories up and down the ballot.

Congratulations to Chairman Rainey and the entire Orange County GOP team. Let’s get to work!

Saturday night had League Park swinging!

Team Weber was proud to join the League City community for the 3rd Annual Saturday Jazz Night at League Park: an evening filled with incredible music, beautiful weather, and an outstanding turnout from families and neighbors across the community.

The crowd was treated to fantastic performances from Houston saxophonist Kyle Turner, powerhouse vocalist Keeshea Pratt, and the talented Texas Southern University Jazz Ensemble. From smooth saxophone melodies to soulful vocals and outstanding student musicianship, the evening was a wonderful celebration of live music and the arts right here in League City.

Arts and entertainment events like this do more than provide a fun night out; they bring people together, showcase local and regional talent, and help build the strong, vibrant communities that make Southeast Texas such a special place to call home.

Thank you to the City of League City, the League City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Williams Hart and Boundas Law Firm, Texas First Bank, KTSU 90.9 The Choice, and everyone who helped make this free community concert such a tremendous success.

Team Weber is always glad to be out in the community supporting the people, places, and events that make the 14th Congressional District shine.

A new era of American shipbuilding is beginning right here in the 14th Congressional District of Texas.

On Monday, Congressman Randy Weber and staff joined Davie Defense, Gulf Copper, and leaders from across Texas and the nation on Pelican Island in Galveston for the groundbreaking of Davie Defense’s new shipbuilding facility; a project that represents a monumental investment in our workforce, our maritime industrial base, and America’s national security.

This is no ordinary groundbreaking. This project marks the return of complex shipbuilding to the Texas Gulf Coast for the first time in decades, with an investment that could reach $1 billion and create approximately 2,400 new American jobs in Galveston and Port Arthur, while supporting thousands more across Texas.

The Texas Gulf Coast has always answered America’s call. Our ports move the cargo. Our refineries fuel the nation. Our workers power the economy. And now, the hardworking men and women of TX-14 will help build the next generation of U.S. Coast Guard Arctic Security Cutters...ships that will protect American sovereignty and strengthen our presence in one of the world’s most strategically important regions.

Last Thursday, Team Weber attended the Pearland Chamber of Commerce’s Newly Elected Officials Reception at the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland, celebrating the men and women recently elected (and re-elected) to serve this growing community.

The evening’s highlight was welcoming Pearland’s newly elected Mayor, Quentin Wiltz. In his remarks, Mayor Wiltz spoke about working with local and regional leaders to address the challenges and opportunities ahead for Pearland, including infrastructure, traffic, economic growth, and quality of life.

For Congressman Randy Weber, Pearland is more than a new community entering the 14th Congressional District through redistricting; it is home. Congressman Weber grew up in Pearland, raised his family here, owned a small business here, and began his public service on the Pearland City Council. As Pearland returns to the district, he looks forward to once again representing the community that helped shape who he is.

Pearland is growing, and its voice matters. Congressman Weber and Team Weber are committed to building strong relationships with Pearland’s local leaders, business community, and residents while fighting for the conservative values, infrastructure needs, economic opportunities, and responsive representation this community deserves.

Last Wednesday, Team Weber joined the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce at their Coffee in the Park, with this month’s sponsor being Papaw Clause!

These gatherings are a great reminder that small businesses are more than storefronts and services: they are neighbors, job creators, community partners, and the backbone of our local economy. Coffee in the Park brought together business owners, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and local organizations to build relationships, share opportunities, and support one another.

We were especially encouraged to hear about Papaw Clause’s upcoming Christmas in July effort, collecting backpacks and school supplies to benefit local students through Communities In Schools. It is a perfect example of how small businesses and community organizations step up to make a meaningful difference for families right here at home.

Congressman Randy Weber understands that when our small businesses are strong, our communities are strong. Team Weber is proud to stay engaged with the hardworking men and women who help League City grow, serve, and thrive.

Today, on behalf of Congressman Randy Weber, I had the honor of attending the unveiling of a new Texas Historical Marker at the Galveston County Courthouse commemorating George Thompson Ruby.

G.T. Ruby was one of the most significant Black political leaders in Texas during Reconstruction. A teacher, journalist, organizer, and public servant, Ruby came to Galveston after the Civil War and worked through the Freedmen’s Bureau to expand education and civic participation for formerly enslaved men, women, and children. He taught at what is now Reedy Chapel AME Church, helped organize Black voters, advocated for labor and education, and went on to serve in the Texas Senate during a pivotal period in our state’s history.

Galveston County has a deep and powerful history, especially as the birthplace of Juneteenth and as a community central to the story of freedom, education, civic engagement, and civil rights in Texas. Historical markers like this help ensure that important stories, including those too often left out of the broader narrative, are preserved, remembered, and shared with future generations.

Thank you to Sam Collins, Sharon Gillins, Sally Branson and the Galveston County Historical Commission, Jodi Wright-Gidley and the Galveston County Museum, and all those who worked to bring this marker to life. Your continued efforts help preserve the rich and complex history of Galveston County and ensure that figures like G.T. Ruby are not forgotten.

Following yesterday's National Maritime Day Ceremony in Galveston, Congressman Randy Weber and staff attended the Port of Galveston’s luncheon highlighting the continued growth and future of the maritime industry in our region.

The luncheon helped support the Port of Galveston’s maritime scholarship endowments at Texas A&M University at Galveston and Galveston College, which are focused on preparing the next generation of mariners, shipbuilders, logistics professionals, engineers, technicians, law enforcement officers, and maritime workers. These programs are critical to ensuring that Galveston and the Texas Gulf Coast have the skilled workforce needed to support one of the most important industries in our district.

Congressman Weber was recognized for his continued work in support of the Port of Galveston, including efforts to secure federal resources needed for dredging and channel improvements that help keep commerce moving safely and efficiently.

The luncheon also featured remarks from Philip Burns-O’Brien, CEO of Davie Defense and Gulf Copper, who discussed the company’s plans in Galveston, including modernization of the Gulf Copper facility and work connected to the United States Coast Guard’s next-generation Arctic Security Cutters. This investment represents a major opportunity for Galveston, the maritime workforce, and American shipbuilding.

The maritime industry supports jobs, trade, tourism, energy, national security, and economic growth throughout Texas’ 14th Congressional District. With seven ports in the district, Congressman Weber understands just how important it is to keep our ports strong, our channels maintained, and our workforce prepared for the future.

Today, Congressman Randy Weber and staff attended the 17th Annual National Maritime Day Ceremony hosted by the Port of Galveston.

National Maritime Day was established by Congress in 1933 and is observed each year on May 22 to commemorate the 1819 voyage of the SS Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The day honors the United States Merchant Marine and recognizes the men and women whose work in the maritime industry supports our economy, strengthens our national security, and keeps goods moving across the country and around the world.

For Texas’ 14th Congressional District, the maritime industry is more than a point of pride; it is a major part of our economy, workforce, and way of life! Congressman Weber represents seven ports, more than any other Member of Congress, and understands how critical our ports, ship channels, mariners, pilots, shipbuilders, longshoremen, law enforcement personnel, educators, and maritime workers are to Southeast Texas and the nation.

The Port of Galveston continues to play a vital role in supporting jobs, trade, tourism, commerce, and regional growth. As investments continue in infrastructure, dredging, workforce development, and future shipbuilding opportunities, Congressman Weber remains committed to supporting the federal priorities necessary to keep our ports safe, competitive, and moving forward.
