Campaigning looks a little different when your “why” is riding in the stroller in front of you. Canvassed today with Amy Bailey for Wilson County Zone 5 School Board. Two moms, showing up, putting in the work, and fighting for the kind of schools and community our kids deserve.

Strong women showing up, speaking up, and stepping into leadership! Early voting for primaries started today, and it’s time to make your voice heard — because leadership looks even better with more women at the table!

This is a true snapshot of Wilson County.

Different backgrounds. Different stories. Different ideas. One community.

This is what real representation looks like. People who do not all look alike, think alike, or come from the same place standing together because they care about where we live and where we are headed. It is neighbors showing up, listening, laughing, disagreeing respectfully, and still choosing to move forward together.

Wilson County is not one voice. It is many. And that is not a weakness. That is our strength.

When we make room for everyone at the table, we get better ideas, better solutions, and a better future. This is the Wilson County I believe in and the one worth building together.

I encourage everyone to take the time to learn about all the candidates running, listen to their stories and ideas, and make an informed choice based on who you believe will best serve our community.

It was clear last night that the majority of the commissioners voted for the will of the person (Brad Lytle) rather than the will of the people (speakers, the overwhelming majority in favor or Larry Tomlinson). Most of the speakers there in favor of Mack were not from SB Zone 5.

Mack homeschooled his kids rather than putting them in the Wilson County School system. He has also only taught for ONE YEAR. That does not show a whole lot of commitment or experience necessary for the school board position.

Mack’s supporter Brad Lytle’s one argument about the past SB election results being used in Mack’s favor cannot stand up to the defense that Tomlinson has been elected BY THE PEOPLE to serve several terms on both the county commission and school board. After Mack’s stint as mayor, he has failed to be elected BY THE PEOPLE in several races in the past 20 years, including his race against commissioner Dowell in 2022. The people did not choose him.

All this to say, I regret not standing up for and speaking in favor of the logical choice, the reasonable choice at the commission meeting yesterday. But my disappointment in the commissioners who will not speak for the will of the people further pushes me to be someone who will. I am running for county commission in district 6 as someone who will 1. SHOW UP and 2. will STAND UP for the WILL OF THE PEOPLE of my district.

Calling all District 6 residents! If you believe county leadership should be transparent, responsive, and rooted in community, I’d be honored to earn your support. I believe county government should help strengthen those bonds by listening, acting fairly, and serving the common good. That’s why I’m running for Wilson County Commission in District 6: to lead with integrity and ensure our county’s future is shaped by the people who call it home.
