This is a great piece written by Joe Durwin but there is more to this story and how the oldest health district in MA came to be. The Tri-Town Health Department. A three-town joint venture created a 'shared milk inspector' and we never looked back.

In total, 48 deaths were counted in Lee (not including a few outlying cases among out-of-town visitors). The septic sore throat outbreak had claimed about 1.2 percent of its population.

As of today (Friday) Lee Sandy beach may reopen but the Lenox Town Beach will remain closed today until a resample is collected to ensure e. Coli levels are within tolerance. Thanks for your patience.
