It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Retired Lee Police Officer Henry “Rico” Smachetti, Badge #3 — he was a true fixture in our department and community who dedicated more than 30 years of law enforcement service to our community, from 1965 through 1995.
Throughout his career, Rico brought a unique style and a jovial personality to the job. He was at the forefront of community policing long before it became a common phrase. He had a remarkable ability to connect with anyone he met, and he was truly loved by all who knew him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this time. His presence will be deeply missed, and his legacy will never be forgotten.

It was another fantastic year for the annual 2025 LETR Holiday Sweater Run. Fun was had by all! Thank you to school staff for hosting us this year at the new Lee High School location. A big THANK YOU goes out to the many volunteers, supporting Officers from Agencies throughout the County, Lee Fire Dept, the many donating businesses, and individuals too! Great job by all, supporting our Berkshire County Special Olympics Athletes. We continue this event in memory of Chief Roosa and Karen Williams. They truly loved supporting the Berkshire County Chapter of Special Olympics, our athletes, and their families. Thank you to all those that continued to support this worthy event, we will see you next year!

Another great result from our pink patch fund raiser. Thanks to all those that purchased our pink patches, we raised $300.00 to support the Berkshire based “AYJ Fund”. They were very appreciative at AYJ and will put the funds to great use supporting research and helping children cope with all forms of cancer. Thanks to the Lee Police Association for the donations to support the patch campaign. We'll see you next October!!
