What a weekend! Solomon was one of the stars in the parade in Bridgeport on Saturday. Then we attended the Panhandle Equality festival at Frank Park in Scottsbluff, followed by a town hall at the West Nebraska Arts Center. I am blessed with awesome and talented volunteers. This trip was special because my significant, from Crete, Nebraska, was able to travel with Solomon and me.

Nobody ever solved a problem by ignoring it. Here are some facts:

More than 50% of Nebraska is suffering from Extreme Drought or Exceptional DroughtThe North Platte river is as low as I’ve ever seen it at the end of May. Fires burned more than 700,000 acres of prime Nebraska ranch land a few months ago. It was 97 degrees in Nebraska on March 21st. Nebraska just experienced one of the warmest winters since the Dust Bowl.

Nebraska’s farmers know global warming is real, and humans are one cause of that. Nebraska’s agriculture depends on water and always will. You don’t solve these problems overnight. I don’t have all the answers. But I know the first step toward solving a problem is admitting that it exists. I won’t stick my head in the sand. I’ll work for farmers and others to find and fund real solutions.

After a hard day of parades and shaking paws, Solomon was tired, but this morning he is eager to get back out and meet the people of Scottsbluff. We'll be at Frank Park for Pride in the Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and then I'll be hosting a town hall at the West Nebraska Arts Center at 4:00 p.m.

It’s not difficult to change things for the better. Those with power just need to care more about the people than their donors.

I am going to Washington as an independent because Nebraskans deserve a representative that answers to them – not to a party boss or a rich donor.

Here are five bold solutions. Which one should have been law years ago?

Today's travels took us to Oshkosh and Lewellen. It was fun to stop at The Most Unlikely Place and see Dennis and Cynthia.

Solomon and I have a busy weekend coming up, and we're excited to meet you. Will be in Bridgeport on Saturday, Scottsbluff on Sunday, and North Platte on Monday. And we're going to have a special guest with us.

They said it couldn't be done. We're doing it.

When I launched this independent campaign some said I could not win. The momentum says otherwise.

More than 1 in 3 voted against the incumbent in his own primary. Respected leaders across the district — from agriculture to labor to healthcare to faith — have signed on as advisors. Our message is outperforming 90% of similar accounts on one platform. And donations from supporters who want to send a true independent to Washington are increasing.

This is what an independent congressional campaign looks like when it's done right.

On November 3rd, greater Nebraska declares independence.

These Nebraskans believe in this campaign.

Seven respected leaders from across NE-03 — a former Nebraska Cattlemen president, a labor council president, the chair of a rural healthcare system, a former city manager, an education advocate, the founder of Nebraska's first women's safe house, and a missionary — have signed on as advisors.

This is what a congressional campaign looks like when it’s done right. We're building the team. Now we need to be 100% certain we get on the ballot.

We need 2,000 valid signatures. We're on our way. If you'd carry one petition with you — in your truck, your bag, by the front door — message us or visit MarkforNebraska.org. We'll mail you a petition and simple instructions.

Five minutes of your time could put a real independent on the November ballot.
