We need to elect representatives who will protect our kids. Ironic that we're sharing this on Facebook, and maybe the Meta algorithm won't let it through. But we have to try.

Is Senator Jim Justice going to announce a run against Patrick Morrisey for the West Virginia governorship tomorrow? Inquiring minds want to know...

"Today’s report landed just hours before the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Business Summit opens at the Greenbrier, where Senator Justice is scheduled to make a Senate presentation on September 3 in a place that includes Governor Morrisey, Treasurer Pack, Secretary of State Kris Warner, and essentially a large chunk of the West Virginia political and business establishment. The WASP has previously reported on chatter in Republican circles that Justice may use that appearance to signal or announce a gubernatorial run."

Larry Pack released a tax report today. It was not really about taxes.

A message from Dana Hiner, Registered Nurse and Farm Owner:

I am so proud to endorse Jennifer Gilkerson for the WV House of Delegates - District 40.

Jennifer and I first worked together as nurses in the early 2000s. She is as honest, dedicated, compassionate, professional, and hard-working now as she was then. In 2008, she transitioned to farming full time with her husband, Kent, at Sunset Berry Farm in Alderson. That’s where I became her loyal customer and helper.

While we work together, Jennifer talks about her hopes and dreams for the future of West Virginia, and our area in particular. As President of the West Virginia Agritourism Association, she works to strengthen our local economy by building a community that folks are drawn to visit for the natural beauty, clean water, fresh air, local foods, and restaurants.

I learned from Jennifer about the threat of data centers straining the local power grid, increasing water consumption, and adding noise. If elected, Jennifer will do her best to repeal the Power Generation and Consumption Act of 2025 (HB 2014), which took decision-making about proposed data centers out of the hands of local zoning jurisdictions. Jennifer would restore local control so we can decide if, when, and how data centers are built in our community.

Our current representative, Roy Cooper, betrayed the citizens of District 40 by voting for HB 2014, giving the AI data center industry a free pass to harm our communities. It’s time to kick him out of office.

We need to elect young progressive leaders like Jennifer to make West Virginia competitive with other states in jobs and education, so that we keep our children and grandchildren home where they belong, working and thriving.

We've raised almost $12,000 of our $15,000 goal for the Blue Skies Ahead Get Out The Vote Campaign! We're planning radio and streaming ads, mailers, door hangers, and more to help local folks learn about Jennifer and our other great candidates and vote! But we can’t do it without your help. Please donate now online or send a check to Blue Skies Ahead WV, PO Box 62, Lewisburg, WV 24901. Thank you! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/blue-skies-ahead-pac-1

Proposed changes to FEMA would leave states more responsible for disaster recovery. West Virginia lawmakers have left the state ill-prepared.

This almost seems like it's by design....

"Women accounted for 100 percent of the decline in the labor force in July, according to a National Women’s Law Center analysis of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’s latest dismal jobs report.

Overall, the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July: Women lost 32,000 jobs, while men gained 9,000. Many of the jobs lost were in local government and leisure and hospitality—real jobs that real women, who are already dealing with slowed wages and rising inflation, work."

And the number of women who have left the workforce since January is more than double the number of men.
