More than 100 fire prevention professionals from 62 departments and businesses from across North Texas joined us this week for Fire Inspector 101, a half-day training focused not just on how we do the job, but why we do it.

Beyond the technical skills, the class explored the foundations of fire prevention, professional development, and the important role fire inspectors play in creating safer communities for the people who live, work, and visit there, and for the firefighters who may one day respond to an emergency there.

At FPANT, we believe professional development is just as important as technical training. Our goal is to provide opportunities that strengthen both the skills of our members and the professionals behind them.

A huge thank you to Captain Mike Rockne with the Celina Fire Department for an outstanding class, and to First Baptist Church at The Fields for once again being incredible hosts.

The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, from those brand new to fire prevention to professionals who have been doing this work for years.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to invest in the future of fire prevention across North Texas!

Every week, we meet someone who says the same thing:

"I had no idea an organization like FPANT even existed."

Honestly, that's one of the reasons we do what we do.

The Fire Prevention Association of North Texas exists to bring together the people who work every day to make our communities safer, from fire inspectors and fire marshals to public educators, plans examiners, code officials, and industry partners.

Whether you're new to fire prevention or have decades of experience, our goal is simple: connect professionals, provide quality training, encourage collaboration, and strengthen the fire prevention community across North Texas.

If you've never heard of FPANT before, you're not alone, and we'd love to change that.

If you'd like to learn more about FPANT or are interested in joining more than 650 fire prevention professionals who are already members, leave a comment below or send us a message. We'd love to connect with you.

This year's Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10) theme from the NFPA is "Charge Into Fire Safety", highlighting the importance of lithium-ion battery safety.

From phones and laptops to power tools, e-bikes, scooters, and more, rechargeable devices are a part of our everyday lives. As their use continues to grow, so does the importance of charging and storing them safely.

Here are a few simple ways to reduce your risk:

⚡ Use the manufacturer's charger whenever possible. Mixing chargers can damage batteries and create overheating hazards.

⚡ Charge on a hard, flat surface. Keep devices away from beds, couches, pillows, or anything that can trap heat.

⚡ Don't charge overnight or when you're away from home. If something goes wrong, you want to be there to notice it.

⚡ Replace damaged batteries immediately. If a battery is swollen, leaking, overheating, or has been damaged in a drop, stop using it and recycle it properly.

Lithium-ion battery fires can grow rapidly and are difficult to extinguish, but following a few simple safety practices can dramatically reduce the risk.

Join FPANT as we help spread this year's Fire Prevention Week message and encourage everyone to Charge Into Fire Safety! 🔥🔋

Transparency isn't something you achieve once; it's a commitment you continue to uphold.

As FPANT grows, we're proud to let our followers know that we continue to hold Candid's Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition for nonprofit transparency and accountability.

For our members, sponsors, donors, and partners, this means you can see not only who we are, but how we're stewarding resources, measuring our impact, and remaining accountable to the mission we've been entrusted with.

Less than 1% of U.S. nonprofits have earned Candid's Platinum Seal, and we're grateful to continue holding ourselves to that standard.

Thank you for your continued trust and support as we work to advance fire prevention across North Texas.

Texas A&M Forest Service has raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 2 as the potential for wildfire activity is expected to increase in areas with rainfall deficits, such as the Rolling Plains, Cross Timbers, High Plains, Northeast Texas, and South Texas, where high temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation is contributing to elevated risk.

We continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to respond to any requests for assistance.
