The DiverCity Festival, one of Lexington's most vibrant community celebrations, returns Saturday, August 29, from noon to 7 p.m. This year the festival moves to a new home: Oliver Lewis Way between Scott Street and Freedom Lane, behind the Davis Park Community Center.

Global Lex was delighted to join the launch and induction ceremony of the Liberian Community of Central Kentucky!

We were honored to provide remarks during the event and are so excited for the roughly 125 community members in attendance and for our community at large. Congratulations to the new leadership and elected officers, and to the entire Liberian American community of Lexington! 💛

What a weekend for our community! 🎒

We loved connecting with families and sharing resources at the YMCA of Central Kentucky Back to School Rally at Tates Creek Community Center on Saturday, and at the Bluegrass Community Health Center fair on Friday.

Thank you to the incredible partners who come together year after year to make sure our neighbors have backpacks, school supplies, resources, and services as the new school year begins.

We’re excited for the YMCA Back to School rallies happening across our community tomorrow, Saturday, August 1st! Families can pick up backpacks, school supplies, and much more for their students, along with games, interactive activities, and resource fairs featuring service providers from across Lexington.

Global Lex will be on site at both the Tates Creek Community Center and Valley Park locations. We hope to see you there!

This week, Global Lex hosted a luncheon and legislative conversation with a five-member delegation from the Vietnamese National Assembly, visiting through the Congressional Office for International Leadership program in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

We're grateful to Lexington Vice Mayor Dan Wu and 3rd District Councilmember Tom Eblen, 11th District Councilmember Jennifer Reynolds, and Lexington’s 5th District - Councilmember Liz Sheehan for joining us and making it such a substantive exchange. Conversations like these are a reminder that local leadership has global reach.

What an incredible celebration of youth in our community! 🎉

We were honored to be invited to the annual Babondo Youth Celebration in Lexington, where our Executive Director provided opening remarks. Around 300 people filled the room with joy and community spirit. It was such a privilege to hear speakers share about the importance of community building, organizing, and hard work. And to dance, enjoy delicious food, and simply be in community together.

Deep gratitude to the youth organizing committee, the Lexington committee, and the statewide committee for making this celebration possible. We loved seeing folks from around the state, including Bowling Green, come to participate and celebrate alongside our local community here in Lexington. 💛💙
