It's going to be HOT today... 97° hot!

The nursery is open from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, and I'll be here... mostly hiding in the air conditioning if I'm honest. 😆

If you've been wanting to grab a few plants, come see us this morning before the afternoon heat really kicks in. We still have plenty of beautiful flowers, shrubs, herbs, and garden goodies looking for their forever homes.

What's your preferred summer temperature?

Me? I can handle 97° if there's a pool, lake, beach, sprinkler, slip-n-slide, or some other water activity involved. Otherwise, I'm more of an 80s-with-no-humidity kind of gal.

No humidity? I know... that's a pretty ambitious request when you live in the South. 🤣

It's going to be HOT the rest of this week!

Make sure to give your plants a good, deep watering in the morning or later in the evening. A long soak is much better than a quick sprinkle. And don't forget to hydrate yourself, too! 😉

Looking for plants that thrive in the summer heat? We still have plenty available that perform beautifully in both containers and landscape beds, including:

Perennial Lantana
Rudbeckia
Echinacea
Sunflowers
🌺 Pentas
…and more!

We're open this weekend from 8 AM – 3 PM. Stop by and see us!

Sometimes it's good to stop and look back at where God has brought you.

We started with a simple dream: growing flowers and selling a few bouquets here and there from our house. Before long, we realized we needed more room for that dream to grow. We started praying, and not long after, the opportunity to move to a property with more land opened up.

We bought a tiny, inexpensive greenhouse and started selling plant starts, eggs, baked goods, and whatever else we could produce. If I'm being honest, the baked goods were probably the biggest hit of all! (Though baking has never been my favorite thing.) You can still occasionally find some of my baked treats at our events. 😉

As time went on, whispers began that my husband's company might only have another 10 years or so before the owners retired and sold. What started as, "Do you think we could actually do this?" quickly became, "We have to do this."

We purchased a larger greenhouse, became officially licensed, and dove in headfirst.

Everything seemed to accelerate from there.

Now we're wrapping up our very first full year as a licensed nursery. 🙌🏻

The support, encouragement, and kindness we've received from this community has been far beyond anything we imagined. Truthfully, we thought we might see a handful of customers all year long.

Instead, you've shown up for us again and again!!!

As we look ahead, we're excited to see where God leads over the next 5, 10, and even 20 years. We have big goals and a vision that sometimes feels way bigger than us. But we're trusting the Lord with every step. Whether we grow beyond our wildest dreams or stay exactly where we are, we're already incredibly grateful.

God has been so sweet to our family this past year, and we're thankful for every single person who has been part of this journey. ❤️

We'd love to hear from you!

What would you love to see from us in the next 5–10 years?

More flowers? More shrubs? More events? Workshops? More Greenhouses to walk through? The baked goods back? Something we haven't even thought of yet?

One of our favorite things as a nursery is receiving photos from customers showing how their plants are doing after they leave.

This beautiful Delosperma hanging basket was sent to us by a customer in Charlotte, and it absolutely made our day. Seeing our plants thriving not only here in Lexington, but in gardens, porches, and landscapes across North Carolina is incredibly rewarding.

We love knowing that a little piece of Heritage Homestead & Nursery is growing in so many different cities throughout the Carolinas. 🥰

If you've purchased plants from us, we'd love to see them! Send us your photos or share them in the comments.

Thank you for supporting our small family nursery and for sharing your gardens with us!

It was HOT outside, and we truly appreciate everyone being such good sports and sticking with us through the heat!!!

In true Heritage Homestead & Nursery fashion, I only managed to capture ONE photo during the entire event. 😂 When we're having fun, apparently pictures become an afterthought!

We had a wonderful time, and a very special thank you goes out to our adorable mini bingo caller who helped make the afternoon extra memorable.

We hope everyone had a great time, enjoyed the fellowship, and left with some fun prizes and happy memories!
