It was a joy to celebrate the launch of The Nest We Built, written by my friend JoEllen Wilhoite and inspired by the life-changing work of The Nest.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate alongside Jeffrey White, whose more than 15 years of leadership have shaped The Nest into the remarkable organization it is today. As he prepares to retire at the end of this month, Mayor Gorton's proclamation of June 16 as Jeffrey White Day was a fitting tribute to a legacy of service that has touched countless lives.

Congratulations to JoEllen, Jeffrey, and everyone who has helped build a stronger, more compassionate community through The Nest.

Last night, I was glad to join my Lexington House Democratic colleagues Anne Gay Donworth - Kentucky State Representative, 76th District, ChadAull4KY, KY Deserves Moore, and George Brown for KY 77th Legislative District at the historic Lyric Theatre for a community conversation hosted by Council members Morton and Sheehan on the future of data centers in our city.

I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from residents and stakeholders as our community continues this discussion following the Council’s vote to establish a moratorium through October. While the conversation focused on Lexington, communities across Kentucky are facing similar questions. I believe the General Assembly has a responsibility to ensure local communities have the tools and protections they need to make informed decisions about developments that will shape their future.

Big news for Fayette County!

These numbers reflect what we already know: Lexington is a destination. From our horse industry and local businesses to our arts, culture, restaurants, and hospitality sector, the people who make our community special are helping drive economic growth across the Commonwealth.

Proud to see Fayette County continue to be a leader in Kentucky tourism and grateful to everyone who helps make Lexington a place people want to visit again and again!!

Lexington has truly hit a triple crown of travel honors recently, and today’s numbers prove that. Governor Andy Beshear just announced that in 2025, Fayette County broke records for the fourth year in a row with a $1.71 billion economic impact, our strongest year yet.

This historic milestone is a win for our entire community. Tourism supported 11,813 local jobs and generated $133.7 million in tax revenue reinvested into our local economy. More visitors means more support for our local shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods that make our city special.

Thank you to everyone for making Lexington a must-visit destination.

June is Gun Violence Prevention Month.

This month, we remember the lives lost to gun violence, stand with survivors and their families, and renew our commitment to safer communities for all Kentuckians.

Every Kentuckian deserves to feel safe in their community.

On Flag Day, we recognize a symbol that has united generations of Americans through times of challenge and triumph.

May today serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to strengthen our communities, participate in our democracy, and work toward a brighter future for all.

🏛️ Week two of Interim Committee meetings is in the books. This week, we discussed how Kentucky tracks state-owned properties, updates at a state veterans facility, and improvements to the organ donor designation process. Here's a quick recap.

Today is Loving Day, which honors the Supreme Court's 1967 decision affirming the right of in*******al couples to marry.

Not all that long ago, in*******al marriage was illegal in many parts of our country. The Loving decision helped move us closer to the promise of equal rights and equal protection under the law.
